My 01 Lift Pump is out AGAIN !!! (Suprise, Suprise) I only have 52K on it and this is the 4th one, all on warranty. So Dodge wants to put the in tank pump in now. What I read on TDR everyone is not convinced this is a fix. IF I go with the Dodge fix, then the VP44 pump will continue under warranty I'm told. Is this true?? Dealers shop foreman told me they have put in over 100 of the in tank and have yet to have a problem. They claim it's volume of fuel to the Vp44 not the pressure !!!! Is this true????

I was really looking at the Glacier 392 !!! Is that a good after marker one??? Any advise would be appreciated.

If it keeps the VP under warranty, why not go that route. Seems it would be less money and give you time to research and put together a bullet proof system. ;)

The VP will benifit from an increase in volume and keeping it at 15 psi supply pressure. Increase your fuel delivery lines to 3/8 ths in I. D. so you have less restriction over the 9 to 10 ft of line length, this will give you the volum flow potential you are looking for. Ditch the Banjo bolts as they are restrictive and use straight in connections to the VP and the Fuel Filter.

Install a fuel pressure gage so you can monitor. ;) Put the gage on the output of the fuel filter. I have 187,000 now on my original VP. Never lost my LP, but then I changed it out at around 41,000 for a 150 gph FASS.

I cannot answer about the Glacier, no experience with it, but I would imagin that it is a good system provided you do your set up right.

Good luck.

WB-Your VP is only under warranty for 5yr/100k - right - how much longer does the coverage last?

I've heard here that the in-tank delivers very low psi like 5-7# but have no personal experience.

I've recommended that everyone faced with the in-tank fix should run, this is based on what I've read here and the idea that when the warranty is up and you wish to move on to "The other side" or just upgrade to a better delivery pump system you will need a totally different fuel tank module. From what I understand the tank module for the in-tank pump is no where near the same as ours and, if this is the case, will require that you purchase the old style (original type) tank module to upgrade. I understand that when the in-tank fails it is not a flow through design so you can't install a pump directly downstream (in line with) of it.

As far as the GFS-392 system - speaking from first hand experience - it's a great system, everything is there, customer support is stellar and the price is less than some of the other systems available - even with the 2 micron filter set up! Also, if you like to wear suspenders with your belt :-laf I think if you wish to buy an extra pump they're like $100 and based on my install might take all of 10 minutes to swap out.

As far as pressure 18-19# idle, 16-18# WOT w/comp on 5/4 - so after replacing 3 stock LPs in the original location and then 3 more after I relocated the filter and pump back to the frame (before kits were available) I'm very happy with the Walbro - I forgot to mention you can't hear it run unless you are within 1' of it.

If you do go with the intank solution, make sure to ask for the old Module back. That way if you decide to go to another system you will have the old module to put back in. The Intank solution will give you some prblems on down the road. You have to remember that most of the dealers customers are uneducated about LP problems and do not have gauges to monitor. They just drive their trucks and only fix it when there is a problem. I have seen intank pump failures. Just talked to a guy this week that had a failure. The Walbro pumps seem to be doing very well. They are very quiet and the kits are easy to install. Alternative Fuel solutions makes a nice Walbro Kit too. www.altfuelsolutions.com

thanks gentlemen. I think I will opt out of the in tank fix, spend the $$$ and get the 392. Every thing I have seen, read or heard it seems to be working fine.
