New Reality Show: "I Pity The Fool" (Mr. T.)

Not trying to start another oil company bashing thread, I just need something confirmed.

I was reading the paper a few weeks back and saw that retailers were paying $2. 10 a gallon for gasoline. At that time the price at the pump was $2. 79 at our local station. I asked one of my customers who builds trucks for the oil industry and he confirmed my suspicion that the local retailer was marking up the fuel by $. 69 a gallon or nearly 25%.

He said that $2. 10 included taxes and delivery. Can you guys confirm this?

Net.

My neighbor owns a gas station. He sure doesn't make much on the fuel... so he tries to make it up with the convenience store items.

In the 80's (when I was in this field) a station with good sales volume made enough in fuel sales to pay for the building, the electric bill and to pay for the people required to sell the fuel. All the garage (or store) profits was where the owner made his (or her) money.

I kept 2 mechanics busy with regular customers scheduled for service, and 1 mechanic busy with jobs the guy working the full service island could dig up. A good fuel service island worker should be looking for state inspections ready to expire, tires, wipers, belts, selling oil changes, etc, etc. (He also should be able to sell 24 cans of oil in 8 hours, without putting oil in cars that don't need it!)

Their making . 02 to . 03 at the most and here lately with fuel prices going up and down 7 and 8 cents a day they end up loosing money and selling fuel for . 02 to . 03 under what they paid for that load.

Fuel Prices / Shortages

This is a long story but i will make it short,The fuel prices are changed daily by the brokers that are holding the paper on the fuel in the stations tanks(hopefully the little guy has not paid for his upon delivery), they do this around 4:00 pm daily( most stations make . 03 to . 07 per gallon), As for price , gas / fuel to make it to 2. 96 per gallon at the pump you need $98. 00 crude, have we seen that no. There are to many people trading in oil paper creating a false demand,You can also blame a lot of the Shortages on the electronic chalk boards that these comodities are traded on , no records are saved on these and you can buy your own oil and run up the price and it is never recorded. also watch the supply chain as they move the oil around the country it causes a shortage because it is not here anymore it is over there. The inventories never change it just shows up the next week when it has stopped moving around. In short the oil is here , they need to stop playing games and let this country get back on it's feet.
