Ok, I did an injector swap a while back... . shortly there after, every once in a while I get a hard to start engine. It will turn over for about 5 or 6 sec. before it catches... . This only happen maybe once a week or two. . sometimes longer between times. It will usually fire right away. Did I nick a injector tube or is the lift pump dieing or something else. I don't have a fuel pressure guage and am not sure how to install one if I got one. For those of you that have done the install, do you have a fuel line running into the cab or are they electronic?

The first time it happened was after a long trip driving home on I-15 in the middle of summer doing about 80. I stopped for fuel and then it was hard to start. This was about 1 month after the injector swap.

Thanks!!

i could be a few things:

when you installed the injectors, did you wiggle them and align the tubes to the oriface in the injector. what i mean, is once you had the injectors in the hole. before tightening the lines if you wiggle/twist the injectors side to side you can actually feel the line, center in the hole on the injector. if one of these are not seated it could be leaking into the oil. have you checked your oil for fuel?

second check that you dont have a loose line. it could be leaking down while sitting.

thirdly yes it could be the lift pump but sounds more like its losing prime.

When I installed my injectors I had a slight leak in the #3 line and it caused this problem. I had to look very close to see the leak, it was just a few small bubbles when it was running. I loosen the line , turned the injector tube and re torqued. Proper torque is important.

I did have an oil analysis done and everything came back normal. I stated to them what I had done and that I wanted that check specifically for fuel in the oil. So, with that being said, is it possible to have a leak that doesn't put fuel into the oil?
