Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Is Lift Pump Harness Needed???

Hi All,



I understand that Cummins part# 3990082 is the lift pump kit that contains the pump, sealing washers and harness or pigtail (#4025182).



Is the harness necessary to install this pump or will just ordering pump #3990082 be OK?

Can't tell what year of truck you have. I believe that 1999 and older need the harness. This time around I bought the kit with the harness (for the connectors) for the same exact price as the one without??? I am going to extend the harness length so that I can mount the pump back by the tank.

Sorry about that... ... . My truck is a '99. I dont want to find out that I need the harness when I'm underneath it! Anyone know for sure???

David has it right—the pigtail is needed for 1999.

Do yourself a favor and replace it from the top. Much easier IMO.
