Is lift pump warranteed?

My truck died on the highway and I assume it is the filter-mounted lift pump on my 04. 5 with 55K miles. The dealer told me that my truck is NOT covered for the lift pump replacement scenario (tank pump). I have asked him to challenge it. Why would 03's and 04's on TDR get covered and not 04. 5? Anyone deal with this before? TIA, George

I might be wrong but was thinking 5 yrs/100,000 miles which ever comes 1st. I am also living on borrowed time with the filter mounted pump and need to go ahead and get a back up pump from Geno's.

Both of mine were covered. The first one replaced the OEM that went bad and the second one because the dealer evidently need more practice cause they didn't do the first one correctly. Truck had over 50k on it.

I was told no by Dodge. Had around 70000 on it. Lift pump $180. Thirty minutes to install. Not not having to hassle with the dealer... priceless.

Seriously, the lift pump is available thru Geno's (theirs comes with a nice inline pre-filter) and NAPA; among others. They are all made by Carter. Do Not Pay More.

Having my investment and main source of weekend enjoyment sitting in the driveway over a lift pump, ended up not making sense to me. My NAPA store had one the next day, and I was back on the road feeling the power.

On the philosophical side... The TDR web site has shown me a lot of the faults of our vehicles. The reason I and the rest of you are here is so we can help each other take care of ourselves when we need to, and get back out there. I am a new diesel truck owner. I waited years before I could get here. I always wanted a Cummins. I have that now and can deal with the rest of the issues that come up. Sitting 4 feet above the rest of them on the way to work in the morning has its own rewards

The engine mounted lift pump sold for about $135 at Cummins dealers a few years ago. Not a Cummins part but available at Cummins dealers IIRC.

The Dodge owner's manual should define what is covered under warranty and what is not.

The lift pump is covered under the 100k engine warranty no deductible not sure if there is a cap on the years. Mine was replaced at 78k a year and half ago

Varies from year to year. even deductibles on some years after 5yrs

Bob4x4... thanks but am in Orlando at conference and truck in Mt. Vernon WA. The dealer called back after talking with Chrysler rep who came in store today and said it is not covered. Running the Vin said not covered. It is a Jan 9, 2004 build, 56K miles. I think Chrysler has dropped all the Carter pumps from the 7/70 drivetrain warrentee to save money. All I can figure. Some have had it warrenteed and now no one. Must have decided that somewhere between the tank and the pressure pump... or maybe the injectors... was not "drivetrain". I have a back up from Geno's and having it put on tomorrow. Thanks all. George
