Air Dog pricing???

Ok, so I got the new turbo installed and I'm it's not all I thought it would be. It's a non wastegated one and I was told to expect 48-50lbs of boost. I haven't seen it get over 40. My stock one was getting a solid 33-36lbs and cooling just as well. I thought it might be because I hadn't put enough of a load on it but yesterday I towed around 7K up some decent grades and still never saw over 40lbs. Also, it has a very weird flutter sound when I am holding steady throttle pushing around 25lbs of boost. It almost sounds like the turbo bark flutter. Is that normal for this turbo?

:(

I am what EDM 2 are rated at, but with my combo and when I use to live at 1000 feet above sea level my truck would only hit 50 PSI under a very heavy load. It would mostly only hit about 46-48 PSI. As to the flutter sound. Mine has done it several times and I have not had a problem with mine yet. My under standing is that it is compressor surge as a result of the turbo giving the engine more air then it can use. On my truck it only does it when I am running a certain RPM and a certain load (usually only while towing), but if I down shift speed up a little bit and then upshift again I get no more surge. I don't know if this helps.

You might want to check for some sort of boost leak. Mine gets 48-50lbs wide open. You should definately get more than you are seeing. I was thinking, my turbo comes on real hard once it hits about 6-7psi. It will go to 45 in like an instant on 5x5 so if yours is the same way you might have done something there the first time that you got on it. Maybe you had a weak boot that split or pushed one out from under a clamp like I did. Are you clearing up the smoke at heavy throttle? With all of the boost #'s aside, you definately should see a change in egt's. Mine dropped considerably across the board. Just some thoughts, hope you get it taken care of.
