I noticed a while back that my lift pump runs for 25-30 seconds everytime I turn the key on. I know it used to run for a few seconds and shut off because I could hear a ticking associated with the grid heaters. Now all I hear is the lift pump. I can turn the key on and it will run for 25 seconds, I can turn it off and right back on and it will run 25 seconds.

While refueling my Trailblazer an 03 was putting fuel in so I made it a point to listen and it ran for a couple seconds and quit. This pretty much confirmed I may have an issue.

I'm not bumping the starter to trigger it either. I need to get it in and have the FCA replaced anyway since I have the issue with the throttle sticking at 1000 rpm.

I don't have much warranty left now @ 94. 5K.

TIA

Try pulling both negative battery terminals off and cycling the ignition before reconnecting them. My ECM locks-up for no apparent reason. Good luck

jman,

My truck displayed the same symptoms, and the dealer (under warranty) replaced the lift pump with an in-tank model. I've had no issues in the approximately 30,000 miles since. As a separate subject, what's an "FCA" and what problems are you having with it?

Steve

The Fuel Control Actuator (FCA). My throttle will stick at 1000 rpm and won't idle down. Quite a few people have had the same symptoms. Mine are worse when is is cold, but it still does it when temps are near 100 degrees. I can actually hit the throttle and it will rev and then settle at 1000 rpm. If you turn on the A/C it will idle back down. I'm not sure of all the specifics, but I did read here of others having the same issues and this was the fix.

Thanks for the reply, I better get it in before 100K sneaks up on me!!

I cant hear mine at all is that bad... I have ben having some trouble

some times at an idle it just dies. . after idling for a bit

Unless yours has already been relocated to the tank that doesn't sound good. Yours may have died completely and you've just been running on luck so far. I can hear mine all the time that is another reason I'm concerned, it seems to be getting louder all the time.

On the side of the fuel filter canister. They didn't start putting them in the tank from the factory until 05 or 06. Not exactly sure what model year they moved them to the tank, but I'm sure someone will chime in with an exact answer.
