Scott, I believe the 47RE is computer controlled. Not sure if that correlates to 24v or not. I know if you pull the electrical connection on the side of the trans - the one going straight down from the top -- if it has 3 contacts, it's an RH; more than 3, it's an RE.

Not sure about your year...

but of you have an "E" transmission, it stands for - for "E"lectronicly (computer) controlled.

The "H" stands for hydraulic controlled...

The 4 is for the number of forward gears.

The 7 is some sort of normalized torque rating by Dodge of their auto trannies. . the higher the number the more torque it can handle.

on the V8 you'll find a 45E or 46E (I forget the part number) and the V6 gets something like a 43E.

Thought there are tags or numbers on the transmission case itself.

Good shift spacing is easier to achieve in the "H" but the 1996 and newer have better overdrive lubrication which makes them more reliable in STOCK form. Good transmission modifiers normally improve the lube circuits with enlarged lube passages for OD in the case of the "H" and generally better lube distribution with modified valve bodies. So, when properly modified, both versions will be quite reliable.
