allright guys... driving in O/D about 55 miles an hour and when I pull a slight grade it feels like Im running over washboard, brand new road though. Is this converter slipage??? Also with the O/D off when I get to about 35 miles an hour and it finally locks up it will chug a little and feel like the washboard thing. Shakes the whole truck!!! I have to either click out of O/D or give it more throttle which is not always good, ( speed limit,traffic, etc. ) truck has 19,400 miles (I know I never drive it) a banks big hoss box, filter, exhaust. Well should I call DTT or am I just panicking. I want to do the converter and valve body anyway just not this soon... . Oh well Thanks in advance for your help!

There is a lot of info for you to read, just do a search!!

It sounds like you have the electrical noise issue that quite a few of us see.

Most likely the noise filter will help it.

Call Bill K.

You will get straight help.

I agree that you should call Bill K. !

What you're describing definitely doesn't sound like the electric noise issue!!!!! That's when you have what many of us have called "hunting",, with the overdrive going in and out. I already had to deal with that problem. It did not feel anything like a washboard effect shaking the truck!

Again,,,, call Bill!

A few months ago I had my transmission done and was heading home pulling our trailer. Twice on the way back in Montana I had a very bad shake coming from what seemed to be the center of the truck. Conditions would be doing about 55 (in od) and then getting into it a bit to get up speed to get up the hill and to acclelerate up to 65. On that trip on unfamiliar road I just thought whoa bad stretch of road. After I got home the same thing happened when pulling the trailer up in the mountains or hauling a heavy load. Now I knew it wasnt bad road as I had been on these roads many times without the shake/vibration. Since I had just had the trans done and it felt like it was coming from the center of the truck I called the trans guy and he said oh yeah we see that sometimes, do you have a longbed with the center carrier bearing and 2 piece drive shaft, I said yes. He gave me an in depth description of when it does it (which matched my experience to a T) and then went into why it is doing it. He said to shim the center carrier bearing housing. Start by lowering it 1/2 inch and go from there he had seen them take as much as an inch. In essence it was the driveline angle binding up a bit. I was thinking what the he?? how could that be, but he was the expert not me (I didnt have a problem with it being the center carrier bearing as that made sense just not the driveline angle part causing it). Well I did what he said and so far no more shake/vibration. I just put a nut between the housing and the crossmember on each of the 4 bolts. Just enough thread to do that without having to get longer bolts. To make an already long story short you may want to check your center carrier bearing if you have one.

Thanks for the reply... Ill try that, my truck does have the carrier bearing in fact its the same color as yours! What did you have put in the transmission??? (brand and parts?) thanks again smokin joe

Smokin;

I had it narrowed down to DTT or ATS. I ended up going with DTT, a long and funny story that I wont get into right now as to how I ended up with DTT. I got it set up to pull a 12k 5vr and went with Bills recommendations after he asked me many questions about the truck and its intended use. I ended up getting one of his rebuilt trannies(with all of its normal upgraded parts) with an 89 convertor, towing valve body and added the billet input shaft and 3rd gear drum. So far the trans has performed flawlessly and am quite happy with it. It might be worth your while to call Bill and get his take on your trans upgrades if thinking about it as well as your problem.

Sounds like TC Clutch shudder to me. Try changing the transmission fluid out for fresh and unhook the Boss and try it again. My truck was doing the same thing. Fresh +3 and unhooking my EZ I was running at the time made it go away.
