is my truck an 03 or 05?

Have an 03, 3500, 6sp. Injector stuck open washed out #5, found an 05 engine on ebay, installed it, everything works fine. QUESTION: when i buy boxes, programers etc, do i buy for an 03? [ my comp, wiring harness, etc] or an 05, i'm pretty sure i buy for an 03 but thought it might make an interesting topic. james

Which ECM and wiring are you using?

ECM comes with, and is bolted to the side of the engine so I would think you would buy 05 stuff.

Thats a hard one cuz if you use the 05's ECM it may not communicate with the BCM properly, I wouldn't even try to go that route.

On the other hand if you use the 05's injectors with your 03 ECM it may not fuel properly cuz those 2 are not matched either but is better than the other IMO.



From there on you would buy 03 HP stuff.
