Called Dave Smith Motors to discuss ordering a new truck. I want a Ram 2500 Sport Quad Cab 6 speed. Wanted the snow plow package for the stiffer front springs and NV 241HD transfer case. Saleman said the computer was saying it's not possible to get snow plow package with Sport model. I know I have read about the Sport Model front bumper treatment will not allow mounting of plow hardware, but I thought I heard some folks where still able to get the snow plow package on their sport model truck. Could this be a case of like when dealers where saying the anti-spin only came with the 4. 10 differentials, then later they found it also came with the 3. 54 differential, they just needed to know how to key it into the computer?

Is it possible to get the snow plow package with a Sport? or will I just have to settle with ordering the NV 241HD transfer case option and forego the stiffer front springs. Guess I can always order the stiffer springs from the parts dept, but may be cheaper and better to look into aftermarket.

You cant get the sport and plow prep,if you have to have the sport, order the HD T case, and 4. 10 gears if its an auto. I added the HD springs after the fact, and you only need to buy one spring, yyou gott a buy an 046,pull the 039 out of the drivers side, put the 046 in there, then out the 039 from the drivers side in the pass side, where the 038 was. I gotta tell you the spring swap made it ride much stiffer,I dont like it much without the plow on,it rides like a 1 ton now. I plan on putting the 039/038 combo back in in mid april, since the whole job takes only 1/2 hr at the most. I only changed mine because my plow eighs about 980 lbs, with a 750 lb or lighter plow i wouldnt have bothered changing them at all. Here is a link to my pictures, and trucks. http://www.angelfire.com/ct/construction/johnd.html

They are right-officially the snowplow prep package is blocked with the Sport package. Like Snow man said you can order the HD transfer case separately. And if you order enough HD stuff you can get the 046/039 spring combo from the factory. My truck has it..... I ordered it with the HO/6 spd, 4. 10 posi gearing, HD transfer case, trailer tow package, & camper special package. I guess ordering all that stuff doesn't absolutely guarantee you'll get the HD springs... . but it worked for me!

Jhansen,I did some looking on my local dealers lots, and from what is here,I have come to the concluson that the 6 speed trucks always get the one step heavier springs than the auto trucks,I would think this is due to the much heavier transmission weight. I seroiusly doubt anyone would want to go to the 047/046,unles they are carrying a heavy winch/bumper full time. I have seen one auto with the 046/039 that didnt have the plow prep,My truck is loaded as HD as you can get,it has a 241Hd case,4. 10 LSD,camper, and tow pkges,265 off road tires, even has the 3. 5" wide rear brakes, and every option ther than leather/PS. it came with 039/038,because it doesnt have the plow prep(I bought it used). If getting an auto, get the 4. 10,the auto transmission has a high 1st gear, this and plowing lead to high trans temps with 3. 55's,the 4. 10 keeps the transmission much happeir when plowing,my last truck was a 3. 55,this one runs much cooler transmission temps plowing.

Yeah the 6 speed probably makes the difference alright... . I was happy to get the 046/039 combo with mine although it would have been a lot less nerve-racking if they'd just let you order the plow package off the get-go.
