Someone has to know... what is this on my fuel pump that is unplugged??? A couple of my friends said thiers was un plugged and didn't know what it was. It is a cylinder shaped apparatus toward the front of the pump that is mounted horizontal and is near the bottom of the pump. It has a wire going to it with a connector and it is not hooked up and never was when I got the truck. (yeah, I'm the electrician, I geuss I should be able to figure it out, huh?) Well, I could hook it up or rerun the wiring but I still dont know what the heck it does!
Hope you guys can figure this one out for me! thanx!

Your description and location describes the KSB cold start timing advance electrical solenoid. The KSB system (electrical solenoid style) is on '91 and newer B motors using the VE44 pump. Under 90 deg. , voltage is applied to the solenoid, blocking the fuel return path, and using internal pump fuel pressure, advances the timing slightly. Over 90 deg. , no current is applied to the KSB solenoid, fuel is allowed to return via the normal operating fuel path. The timing advances normally thru internal porting, and sliding plunger.

Thanks, Old School. What you described sounds about right. That has to be what it is. I guess I'll make sure that stays plugged in!
Thanks again!

Could this cause the peacup to smoke say in the morning when it's warm enough that the manifold heater doesn't cycle yet not warm enough for good combustion?
