Is the 03 valve cover plastic or aluminum??

this may sound dumb,but I was just curious if the 3rd gen factory valve covers are hard plastic or aluminum???

They are two piece aluminum, top and bottom halves. Over the valve cover is the breather/filter unit, and a plastic cover is over that for the front 4 cylinders.

The reason for me asking was because I was thinking about getting the top part of the valve cover (that says CUMMINS on it) chromed at a local chroming shop,is that possible????
