In a word, Yes. APPS = Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor.

On 24-valve trucks it's "fly by wire," ie the signal is sent to the ECM which then uses that to determine fueling and drive the injection pump & injectors.

On a 12-valve the TPS only provides a signal to the PCM to control Overdrive operation of the auto transmission. Manual transmission 12-valve trucks don't have a TPS since these engines are fully mechanical.
