I installed a Brite Box about a week ago,now my right headlight is burned out. Anybody else having simalar problems? Thanks

Turbo T,

I installed my brite box 1 1/2 to 2 yrs after getting my truck. I had never replaced a headlight bulb up to that point. After the box, I've replaced probably 5 or 6 in the past 2 years. I've also been running the hotter bulbs. They probably have thinner elements and that may be why they're blowing. I'd read an article on headlights and , I beleive it was Sylvania that has the longest lasting bulbs. Now I've dropped back to the standard headlight bulb and we'll see how long they last.

This is not surprising. Consider that you are running two filaments (100W)in the capsule which normally handles one (50W). So the filaments are going to run hotter (maybe 20%?) and fail sooner. You really need two separate halogen capsules (see sig) but it will be expensive.

I had one in my 98 and now in my 2000 and never replaced a light. I do lots of night driving. I did do the fog light fix if that has anything to do with it, but I doubt it.

I have had a brite box with standard bulbs in service for almost a year. No problems. I must admit though that it does not get used much. It seems that there is always someone coming from the opposite direction.
