I have had my truck for almost a year now and one of the first things that popped up was the shut off solenoid was acting sporatically. So i replaced the solenoid, the relay and put the starter contacts and resistor thing in all at the same time (all from Larry B's) and everything was fine. Then yesterday I went to lunch ambient air temp is about 70 degrees, drive 5 minutes to the local pizza shop, go in eat, come out and she's dead. I had to pop the hood, and pull the fuel shut off up by hand to get her to start. Later that day when I left work, after sitting for 4 hours, she started up just fine. I can only think that maybe there is a wiring problem? Or could weak batteries cause this situation? The batteries are older, how old I don't know for sure as I bought the truck used.

Any ideas. This problem had dissappeared for 10 months or so I thought all was well. Now I am not so sure?

Relay would be a possibility. Have had some crap out on a NEW farm tractor. Other, could be that there is a problem with the fusible link on the drivers side battery.

Since the solenoid and relay have been replaced lately and it does work properly at times I would start looking for bad batteries, corroded connections or poor ground connections associated with the solenoid and it's relay. Check the mechanical linkage at the solenoid.
