Is the price of fuel impact'g your decisions on purchasing accesories for your truck?

I just found myself practically going ahead with a nice aftermarket accessory for my truck. Specifically, an aluminum bumper. Yes, I would have had to watch where my rib eye money went and eat pasta for a couple of weeks... and alocate my upcoming Xmas bonus towards it... . But- could have probably made it work.

Then I really looked at what fuel is costing and more importantly... what it will cost. I had to regretfully make a practical and prudent decision to hold off on an item that I have been wanting for quite some time.

Anyone else have thier "bombing" decisions altered due to fuel costs?

fuel mileage is one of the reasons i got a diesel i beat the crap outta the beast and get 17, bombs ain't going to lower that much if anything it may go up, certainly not going to get near that with a gasser the way i drive

Not sure if it's the fuel prices or what but, I have less going out now as far as bills than I did two years ago with less spendin money in my pocket than I had then. Back then getting truck toys was easy now it's down right difficult.

I was very conservitive when fuel prices went up. I did the whole slow start, slow stop, baby it and keep it tame. Fuel mileage went up . 3 gallons per mile. So my new theory:

Ya only live once, so drive the sucker like ya stole it. Cause life is to short to drive a boring automobile. :D

i tried that and i think i lost . 3 so it's mosquito killing time :D

By the time my warranty runs out, diesel will be $8/gal and I'll be walking so there won't be a need to bomb! :{

Yes, I consider the beater Subaru Outback I purchased this summer an accessory to my CTD. Dramatic improvement in coin per mile for trips to town ;)

bah, who cares, you cant take the money with ya when you die, and I am not stretched that thin that fuel prices really hurt me. They **** me off, but I am not crying over it. If I want somthing, i will find a way to get it anyway.

Im not avoiding a new truck because of fuel prices. Im avoiding a new truck because of the price of a new truck. My answer to fuel prices is finding an alternative. No I dont have Daisies painted on my trucks. I am running waste oil and drive how I like when I like with no worries. Oh and she still rolls coal albeit ecologicaly more sound. :-laf

My motto: just pin it and steer!

I have never paid attention to fuel costs. Its just a part of life. have you noticed too that the price of eggs are up? what about Milk, bread, shoot anything with corn or wheat flour its all going up.

EXACTLY! everything gets more expensive, welcome to a capitolistic society! Not saying I dont think fuel prices suck, but I am not going to loose sleep (or mods :-laf ) over it! :D

CTD=Best kept secret...

I continue to haul every weekend, got power, and acceleration when I need it :-laf Averaging 20mpg, I'll add some goodies as I keep going, and going, and going Oo. Oh yeah, CTD the best kept transportion secret on the planet :D

Patrick.

The price of fuel doesn't have any effect at my house. Kind of like what ToddT said. I can remember when gas sold for $0. 25/gallon and a brand new 340 Challenger costed $3,500. I figured as long as my yearly earnings went up faster than the cost of living I could keep doing the things I wanted to do.

The only thing fuel prices did to me was made my "purchases" mpg friendly...

I'm not into the BOMB scene, and all my mods are more or less for fuel mileage (so they sort of pay for themselves)... I know it is more of a "break even" type purchase because of the time needed to recoup the intial purchase cost, but at least it should break even... eventually...

Only DIESEL

Every vehicle I own is diesel. I have five registered. Each has 200,000-350,000 miles on them.

Why buy new, and why buy what won't last?
