I was just putting on a BHAF on my newly purchased 98. 5 24 valver when I started to spin the tubo shaft by hand. I take it that it's not suppose to wiggle up and down. It has 115k on it and I was wondering what I should do? Where would be a good place to get it rebuilt or should I keep track of e-bay and get a used stock or aftermarket? It runs real well so it kinda surprized me when I found it. Thanks.

It is normal to have play in the Turbo shaft. They tighten up when running from oil pressure. The have a Bushing rather than "Bearings". The bigger the Turbo's bearings the more clearance/shaft play they will have.

If you are concerned that there is too much play get a good look all the way around the compressor wheel to Compressor housing clearance area. If it is rubbing then it is time for new bearings. It will usually only rub in one spot about 1-2 inches long. Another way to check is to gently push the shaft to the side all the way around and turn it to see if it rubs.

The best way is to remove the compressor housing and look. I doubt it's bad.
