How do you find a splinter in your finger? Man, I have a metal splinter on my finger and can't seem to find it.

Does anyone know any tricks finding these things?

A strong magnet might help. LOTS of light. My eyes often fail me in finding such splinters. I've sliced my fingers to ribbons with a razor, trying to find & remove metal splinters. Now I just wear gloves.

Well lets see here now how do we do it... ... HMMMMM..... I got it !!!,,First go to the shop and uncover the shinest ride in the northeast,stand the brightest shop light near it,lay the finger on the hood and the splinter should show its ugly self,,Carefull now though,use plenty of sunscreen and a set of good shades because the glare off your hood might burn you and cause momentary blindness,LOL... .



On a serious note SHINEBOY,a bright light,magnet and even soaking it some may help to see it or cause it to surface enough to be seen,,If it can not be found then a trip to docs may be in order,,I am like Briar on this one,thank goodness for Mechanics wear,it certainly has lowered the splinters deal... ... Take two asprins, soak it in cider and call me in the morning.

Binoculars are a powerful magnifying glass. Look thru the big end while aiming the small end at where you think it is. The small end will be less than an inch from your finger, to focus move closer or farther away. Good Luck

Rather than tearing my finger apart looking for a little one I just leave it till the next day. By then it's surrounded by pus and easy to find.

Well this bad boy has been in there for almost a week now and no signs of it showing up.

See I knew I could count on you guys. Some way or another even our fingers are related to CTD's.



Hammer I would take up on your advice but the Shine ride isn't so shinny, but you know may be today I'll give it a good bath (without gloves) so my finger will have a chance to soften up and then with the binoculars may be I can locate it or, I'll try the Doc's advice.

Doc didn't you get that wrong when you said soak it in cider. Did you mean soak it in side _______Oo. ????

Some things you have to write in a round about way around here, lschultz. Peach cider works best for metal splinters.

Have heard that colored food dye works good for splinters and even clear glass that is stuck in a finger, toe or whatever. The dye makes it visible and should not be dangerous.

I'm not a real Doctor, but I play one on TV I would say we need to cut open your chest and run a line from your Heart to your finger. Then we can use suction to pull the splinter through your Heart. Just contact our Producer and we should be able to fit you in within a couple of weeks.

Splinter Update

Well, to avoid local anesthesia, drank two red/white/blues (Budweisers) sat down on the kitchen stool, 500 watt light with an optivisor glass binocular magnifier that jewelers use plus a magnifying glass and had the wife do some digging.



No luck, this was all after giving the shinny ride a good bath in which the finger got to soak a little and soften up. Been using latex gloves at work to keep it clean. Unfortunately the operation was a success but the patient is still sick It looks like new layers of skin have grown over the suspected area and now it's even hard to locate the little bad boy.



Will give it another couple of days to see what happens but, it looks like I may have to make a trip to the emergency clinic, I just hate them as bad as the dealer, You know x-rays, bla bla bla. :{
