Is there a Posi-Tap for the pump wire?

Beating a dead horse--need a VP-44 part #

Industrial Injection

Has anyone actually tapped their VP44 with a Posi-Tap connector?

It seems like the Posi-Tap brand is the best electrical connector available, but I haven't seen one that would work on the VP44 pump wire, or any wire that is already fixed in place for that matter.

I've checked a couple of auto parts chain stores (Pep Boys, AutoZone), their selection is limited to not what I need. I've been to the Posi-Tap web site and marvelled at their nifty flash presentation, but am still not convinced that there is an acceptable connector.

Hopefully I'm just looking in the wrong places and someone can steer me straight.

Thanks,

Neil

Not sure any tap connector will work as well as solder will. I just did mine and once you remove some stuff it is pretty easy to solder and tape up.

I used the "black" posi tap. Not sure what the p/n was, but they are color coded. Several other members have used the black tap also. The Posi Tap is specifically for tapping into an existing wire. Posi Locks are for tying wires together. Got mine at Wal-Mart.

Posi Taps work very well for the VP44 wire.

Thanks PC12Driver. I barely need an excuse to go to Walmart as it is, but now I've got one ;)

Well, none of these fine automotive parts stores have it:

Checker Auto

Pep Boys

Auto Zone

Walmart

I never have much luck the out of the way NAPA either, but I guess I'll call 'em.

Any one know of an online supplier where I don't have to buy a gross?

thanks

Oh well. After all that, I figure, why buy locally at a discount when you can pay MSRP + shipping  So I just ordered some Posi-Taps and a small assortment directly. At least I'll have some left over for the next project :p

Black is for 12-18 ga wire.

Green is for 10-16 ga wire.

I'm thinking the pump wire is about 14-16 ga (?) so I'd think you'll be okay.

The pump wire is closer to #18 as far as I can tell. I would use the smaller ones to be on the safe side.

When I stripped it to solder mine I am pretty sure I used the 18 gauge hole and did not nick the wire at all. I may have used the 16 gauge hole, it was late and Hot.

I used the black one. I put silicone inside of it before the install to weather proof it a little. It's been on there forover a year now, about 25k miles and I've experienced no problems yet. Soldering is better, but there wasn't must space and this took about 20 seconds to do. I can always solder it if it fails, but so far it's been worth it!
