I am having trouble getting the NV4500 in to gear. Specificly 2nd and 3rd are the tough ones. 1st, 4th and 5th are fine. I have the clutch depressed to the floor, and it acts like I've only got the clutch part of the way in, either being hard to get in to gear or actually grinding. It seems to have shown up with this recent colder weather we're having.

I've only owned the truck for 2 1/2 weeks, and this is my first standard transmission. But when I first bought it, it didn't seem to have this problem  .

Is there some sort of adjustment I can make ??

TIA

I wanted to reply to your post even though my transmission is a nv-5600. I just got mine out of the shop after two weeks of hunting parts and shop delays. Mine was doing the same thing not wanting to go into gear. etc. The fix was a complete replacement of the second gear cluster, syncronizers, and thorough inspection of all parts. After it was reinstalled, it drove okay for a while, but now its acting up again trying to get it into reverse. Maybe it will get better with time but i'm not feeling too good about it. Have your dealer check the second gear cluster with a good diagnostic mechanic. . good luck muddyduck

I don't have an answer for ya, but until you find help, try double clutching it. That might make things easier for ya in the meantime. My 5600 gives me grief once in a while. I just chalk it up to being a big transmission and it just wants to be stubborn. Mine's never been bad enough that I would consider it a problem though.

Second and third share a shift fork..... that doesn't sound good. Does it have any warrantee left on it?

You guys that are non dual disk:

I would try replacing your hydraulics with 94-97 units.

This takes a little fabbing and I mean a little.

The result is more flexibility and hydraulic pressure with your

master (my results).

This could help drastically with what seems to be disengagment issues.

The truck still has the 3 yr. 36,000 warranty left, it only has 23,800 miles. I bought it used and factory certified. I wonder how much good the factory certification is ???

I will take it to the dealer if it comes down to it. I was hoping for an easy fix though, but it doesn't sound that way.
