I have an 01 3500 which goes through front brake pads every 25K, someone wrote about a TSB that removes the proportioning valve so the rear brakes grab alot harder to save the front pads.

If this is true I am very interested, where is the valve and is there really a TSB on it??

My truck is a 3500, the TSB says it is for 2500's only, does that mean that my truck does not have the valve - so this "fix" would not apply

TSB

Darren,

I did this TSB to my 2500 and am sorry I didn't do it sooner. It made a very noticeable improvement in braking. The replacement hose was $26 at the dealer. The TSB does not address the 3500 but cannot understand why.

You could do like another gentleman suggested; Disconnect the proportioning valve linkeage and wire tie ithe valve to the full open position and try it out. I think you will be pleased with the results. If for some reason, you don't want to do this; Simply reconnect the linkage.

Good Luck,

Frank

I have been following this thread for a day or two now and like others cannot seem to find any kind of an arm on my diff. or frame. My rear diff. brake hose goes up to the frame to a junction fitting then on towards the front of the truck. I,m not sure if my brakes are acting like others with this valve. When I have to make a sudden stop you can feel something in the brake pedal clunk and then it seems that you have less brakes????????

My rear brakes are drum but after seeing the picture in the post above I defnietly do not have one of these valves. I do have Anti-lock brakes.

Be Careful w/ proportioning Valve

Be careful with proportioning valve. I made my linkage on my 2500's adjustable and had it set for good solid braking on dry pavement, but it would lock up and skid on wet pavement.

happily, my new 02 3500 doesn't have it.
