Is there a TSB to lower bed height on a 2500 megacab 4x4? Other ideas?

I'm really on the fence about picking up a 2500 megacab 4x4 and one of the major considerations is height. I need to be able to park my truck and camper in the garage (just over 8' measured clearance), and my current set up only leaves about 2 inches of clearance. According to specs I could find, my 99 had a bed height of 32. 9, and a megacab 4x4 (06 was the only year I could find) is at 36. 2. I know the 2nd gen's had a tsb to lower the backs of 4x4's for 5th wheel towing - is there anything similar for the Megacabs?

I know there are other variables such as how much my 1500 lb camper would make the truck squat. It takes my 99 down a bit and it does have the camper package w/ helper springs. Maybe a megacab 2500 would squat more? I can modify the trim on the house and probably gain at least 1 inch. I'm not pulling it in and out every day, but I need to be able to put it under cover when I'm not driving it.

I'm really on the fence about trading up and this is probably the make or break issue! Thanks in advance for the input.

removing/relocating the spacer blocks below the springs between the spring pack and axle will drop you down the back about 1" - 1 1/4"

Heck with a TSB, if you haven't bought it yet, tell the dealer that you'll sign the papers when the height is within your specifications.

Thanks for the replys and especially that link Klenger. There was a TSB for the 2nd gens because they were too high and were causing clearance problems for guys towing 5th wheels. It looks like there are some options for an 07 in the weight of the camper doesn't lower it enough. Now I got to decide if I want to get rid of a perfectly good paid for truck.

Thanks again,

-Vic
