I am talking to a dealer about three hours away.

I asked him to check this 99 for a number located below the alternator on the passanger side of the block. He called back and said it is 53040202ab. I expected him to say, yeah there is a big 53 on the block, but he says this long number is what he saw. Is this the same number that would indicate it was a Brazilian block, or is there something I am not seeing. I would like this truck if it is not a 53. Any help would be great!

That number does not mean that it is a "53" block. That number is the part number that is on the valve cover and multiple other places of a 24 valve. My father owns a wrecking yard that I work at and I was able to look at many different 24 valves, every one of them has a part number that starts with 53 even the non "53" block trucks. This includes two 01's,an 02,a 99, and a 98. If it has a "53" block there will be an unmistakable "53" stamped by the pan rail under the injection pump, it is about 2inches tall and 2inches wide so you cant miss it. From what I was told by J and H performance is that they only came in 98 and 99's. The newer ones we have, have numbers like "54" and "55" stamped in the same place, but their part numbers still start with 53.
