I need to tap into everyone’s knowledge base. I’m a newbie and here’s my question: Local exhaust shop says they can cut out and replace my exhaust with straight pipe for $60 out the door. Geno’s kit is almost $70 w/o shipping. Am I missing something here? I just don’t want to have the wool pulled over me.

Thanks in advance,

Jason

Jason,

A year ago, I paid $50 to have my muffler yanked out and replaced with a piece of striaight pipe at a local exhaust shop.

So to me that sounds very reasonable.

That souds about right. I picked up a stick of 3" 12ga tubing for 50 clams. the band clamps wer 10 bucks each, and the 3" saddle clamp was 2 bucks. All total, the materilas cost me $80, but that was enough for two vehicles, removing both muff and resonator.

Jump on it....

about 4 months ago I had the shop do it for $50, and that was muffler, and resanator. Sounds great if you ask me. :D

don't laugh please...

Gentlemen,

I'm a bit nervous asking this but, what the heck does the resonator do? Why would someone leave it in vs. take it out?

thanks tons, you guys never cease to amaze me.

ps – Kev – EZ is SWEETZ.

Jason,

I can't tell you exactly what the resonator does... but I can tell you that when I took it out, I had a killer drone in my exhaust. So I put the resonator back on and whoola... . the drone was gone.

I have my old resonator sitting my garage right now. When I look inside of it, it is straight through (no restrictions), so I beleive it is there to just eliminate the high frequencies that produce the drone. .

I dunno though. .

Go for it! I had mine done over the weekend and it sounds awesome. Wish I had done it sooner.

Be warned, it is a *little* louder (not bad) and folks WILL notice!

You can hear the turbo better. Some like it, some don't. When I put my air filter in I put the ring back in because it was too loud on long trips.

Give it a shot, you can always put it back.

54 bucks out the door. And the new sound is incredible. Seems a lot more "throaty. " No drone problems either. Thanks for everyone's help!
