Old Pacbrake vs Pacbrake pxrb

This has nothing to do with the price of the trailer, but I absolutely hate trying to load one with drive over fenders. In my opinion, a deck over is much easier to load both wide machines and materials from the side without those fenders being in the way. I also know of a guy who destroyed a beautiful slant dash JD A trying to load over drive over fenders. Thank God he didn't get killed when that thing slipped off the deck. Maybe that just gives me a bad feeling about them.

hhmmm... didnt think about that. . The fenders are suppose to be 83" between them. guess I should make sure my Kubota isn't over 83" wide...

Thanks. .

With the rear wheels in the entire way, my 5303 Deere is ~72" wide. I usually have them kicked out 6" or so which would be a tight squeeze on to that trailer. I can't adjust the rear track width on our IH 574 anymore, and I am relatively sure that it is over 83".

It may work well with your Kubota though depending on it's size and what you have hooked to it.

I would say for $5,000, it is a good deal. Only you can determine if the design will work for your needs. It seems the fenders are higher than necessary, the axles won't oscillate that much. You can also cut some 2x6's of varying lengths to stack the height of the fenders for more drive on space.

I don't know how things work out of my area, but if it was up here I would wave $4000. 00 Cash under his nose and see how that works out.

A lot of people want stuff but very few have the money right now without a weeks worth of screwing around at various banks, etc.

A brand new one is far easier to sell because the trailer dealer will help with the financing.

Assuming that he has clear title to it, being a 2010 I would want to see it.

If he would not go with the $4000. 00 I would walk away and buy a brand new one for $6200. 00. Then you know what you have.

JMHO... .

Excellent advice, and especially the part about the clear title!!

I remember when you bought your Kubota, but don't remember the model. My Kubota L3830 with R4 Tires easily fits between 83" wide fender wells on my 12k tag along utility trailer.

Take it from someone that hauls for a living. I would get a deck over. So much better for loading anything with wheels. With a deck over you will be able to just drive it up and tie and go. Easy for jeeps or if you need to on occassion haul something wider. Get some D-rings welded along the side to give a secure place to tie to. I have four on each side of my trailer.

Do you really want/need a 28 ft trailer? That is getting toward a "specialty" size. Too long can be a pain sometime. Okie told it right, too. Decker over is so much more versatile. If you ever want to sell, you have a bigger "audience". Is even four thousand too much to pay if you are going to mutter under your breath every time you use it because it really wasn't what you wanted/needed? Ask yourself the all the hard questions before you jump on a "deal". My dime's worth. (Inflation's 2 cents) Mark

I have access to a dual tandem 38' deck over anytime I want, but its just entirely too much trailer most of the time...

Its really great when hauling hay, but when I need to just move my L4400 Kubota its a pain... I also had to use it when a couple weeks ago to haul a sick Durango and once again, its a little too much trailer for my 3/4 ton. .

That being said, I'm not dead set on this trailer, but I kinda like the setup, the deck over gives a high CG than the lowboy... I honestly handn't given much thought to the distance between the fenders until JGilliot brought it up. . I don't want to have to drive anything over the fenders, the Kubota seems to be ok and most any auto should be ok as well. While at it, I asked about the distance from the rear of the fender to the rear of the trailer, its 6' 8 1/2" I wanted to make sure I could drop a row of round bales behind the fenders. I am assuming clear title, I will not purchase anything without it. .

Bill, its a Kubota L4400 GST 4x4 with FEL, BB, pallet forks, homemade counterweight box, 5ft. brushhog, and 5ft. finish mower. .

For commercial use a deck over is nice because your loads are so varied and you need the flat deck. Such as pallet products or containers or any wide load, fenders can be a pain.

However for wheeled vehicles, especially cars, the lower the trailer the better. I have a 20' bumper pull with fenders (80" between them) that is even too high for some small cars. I have a set of wood blocks (2"x12") stacked 4 high on a taper that I drive the rear axle of the truck on to drop the rear of the trailer. My 25' deck over flat bed with 5' dove tail and 5' fold down ramps will not work for cars, it's too steep. The front of a car will hit the ramps before the tires ever get to the ramps. It does work fine for pickup and off highway type equipment.

There might be times when the stand up ramps will be in the way, like for any load that might overhang, but with 28' deck that will be rare. You can probably haul two small vehicles on it. My 25' is too short. All in all, I like the trailer and still say $5,000 is an ok buy. New trailers are spendy and come with sales tax.

With the stake pockets and rub rail you will have plenty of tie down space.

Don't forget that if you ever haul a car that after you get it on the trailer you need to open the doors and get out of the car. I have a friend that jump started a car, put it on a trailer, shut it off and then realized he couldn't get the doors open (not a deck-over trailer). The windows were electric, and with a nearly dead battery he almost didn't get the window down. He was by himself on a hot Texas summer day - it could have been very bad. Not a problem if you're hauling a tractor.
