"5. 9L L6 HPDI TRBO DSL" does that coding mean its hi output I thought it usually had ho after the description and I cant figure out in the vin number which number tells you what engine it has... .

Im guessing in that specific description "HPDI" means "High Pressure Diesel Injection" when its really supposed to be HPCR. What year is the truck?

2004 3/4 t laramie long bed auto Im looking at it to buy... . when I bring the vin up thats all it shows for an engine in the description...

Look on the engine tag and it'll tell you if you have the 305/555 engine or not. Sorry pics are with camera phone with bad light = not good photo.

unfortunatly I dont have the truck yet still in the dealing stages... . and its 40 mile away from me at the dealer..... Ill have to check Monday before I sign any thing because Im only buying if its a HO... .

Anything built after 04. 5 is only an HO. Cummins is only making one motor for all 50 states now. Just ask the dealer if it is a 04, or a 04. 5. If nothing else, it should provide you with some comic relief... .....

Find out the build date. If it's after 1/1/2004 it's probably a 2004. 5 and if that's the case, it's definitely an HO -- probably a 325/600. But like the kind folks said above, you have to read the label on the valve cover to be sure.

Here you Go!!!

Sound like the one you looked at? The ETH is a 305/555 motor not a 325/600 but is awesome. Hope this helps. eg

I Have a Question

How did you like your HX35/40 Hybrid-16cm turbo and housing our trucks are similar and I'm trying to decide between your choice or a new HTB2 any input would be great. Thanks eg

The SO's didn't have the 11. 5 real axle either... I think.

Mine is a SO/250hp/47RE build date 11/15/02 with no Calif emissions (Calif is SO/235hp), also it has the 11. 5 rear axle.
