Is this a symptom of a bad 6-speed?

I've been seeing several posts regarding the 6-speed grinding problem. Mine doesn't have an audible grind, but almost always between 2nd and 3rd, and sometimes from 3rd to 4th, I can feel the gears meshing through the stick. I noticed that the faster the engine is running, the smoother the shift. Should I feel the gears when I shift? Have any TSB's been issued regarding the transmission? Are there certain manufacturing dates that the problem 6-speeds come from? Thanks.

I have 30,000 miles on my Ram... I have not had any problems with my six speed yet... (crossing my fingers!).

Bob,
Your 6spd sounds like it's operating normally. The way you describe it is right... you don't hear a grind, you just feel it in the stick. The slight clash will completely go away with more miles on the truck.

I now have 38,500 miles on my truck and it did grind going in 3rd gear during the first 6000 miles. Trans is still silky smooth with no noises or any problems.

I think it is worth mentioning that the NV 5600 is a BIG transmission. The shafts bearings and gears are much bigger than the 4500. The more rotational mass there is the harder it is for the syncros to match speed. I am a firm bielever that this transmission is not a "hot rod" transmission. Give it some time and it shifts beautifully. The normal wear in seems to be about 6 to 10,000 miles. After that the shifting gets much better. IMO
