Truck around 50 mph is now jumping around 200rpms up and down until I increase speeds to over 55 or below 45 intermitently. I don't think it is completly shifting a gear, when I turn my overdrive off, the rpm's jump well over 2000rpms as normal. It almost feels like the torque converter is slipping and catching? I almost have enough saved for my Gorend transmission.

Sounds like torque converter lock up. Follow these instructions http://www.suncoastconverters.com/im...d rewire.pdf

When I did this, I soldered the connections, soldered the ring terminal to ground and put it on the driver's side with the ground strap from the battery (the ground strap that goes from the battery to the rad. support) Basically, you are cutting the wire and grounding each end of it. Follow the directions exactly.

I wrapped the wires in electrical tape when done. No problems since. I suspect there is a bad connection somewhere causing electrical "noise" which is confusing the electronics. I tried in vain to find a bad connectoin, but could not. I also tried unhooking the batteries for a few hours and doing the throttle reset, three times. That did not work either. This fix worked great, and cost almost nothing. Try it, it should work. Good luck.

I appreciate your helpful info. I will make the repair this weekend and post my results. It's funny how I read about someone having problems with their truck and begin to wonder how long I have before my truck develops the same thing...

crap, this just happened to me this evening for the first time. I had the transmission 'built' a couple years ago, and never had any problems. I pulled a cattle trailer friday, and ran the truck a little over the weekend and it did it once but I just put it in the back of my head. Now when I went up the hill to my house this evening, it shifted into od at about 45, surged a few times, until I got to about 50. I will try the alum foil thing. I couldnt get the page to load that BSander put up, will try again later. Just when I think I have spent enough money, its always something.

Awesome, I just got it. sounds simple enough. I put on a new APPS a few weeks ago, I dont know if that has had something to do with it or not. Anyways, will try this fix, thanks!

Just wanted to get back on and post results. I just tried the repair you posted BSander, and it seems to work great! I ran the truck around the same hill that it first acted up on, and it chugged along like a champ. Tried to get it to act up on me but I think this has got it. Thanks a lot! This has been happening to my dads 99 work truck with well over 300,000, he is gone on a trip now, Im going to fix it for him and see if he notices that his transmission is finally shifting properly.

I made the modification to the wiring yesterday and took it for a quick drive. Did not notice anything wrong. The problem has been intermittent. I will know in the next couple days I would imagine... Thanks again.
