While at the dealer this morning for faulty airbag replacement, I asked them to program tire size as I'm running 265 not the factory 245. They said they were unable to find such an option in programmer and wondered if this option was available on manual transmission. I believe this setting is in the ECM and should be. Can somebody confirm ? I also found the below link for a jeep which shows the options in programmer, something I should have done before my appointment so I could have showed them.

Very easy to change that parameter. Some tuners and better scanning equipment can do it as well as Chrysler scan tools like the DRBIII

The 04 can be programmed. It is not done in the ecm

Agreed. My 04 has been programmed by the dealer and then later by me with a Smarty Jr. You need to know the revolutions per mile for your 265s and give that number to the dealer. That's how the size is input on the early 3rd Gens.

It's in there...

I was also told that I couldn't have fog lights on with the high beams or high idle with manual transmission.

Have them search in the ABS computer for tire calibration. This is the area that my Smarty does these type of updates.

My dealer said they do not have the software to program anything older than 06, maybe yours is the same? I bought a smarty and did it myself.

The tire size can be set with the DRB. There is a menu of tire sizes listed or you can go by revs per mile/kilo. Of course you will need to do the math for the revs by measuring the tire rolling diameter. It seems as some of the dealers have omitted their scan tool programs and stayed with just the newer stuff. The dealer I used to work at could not do a contribution test on my 04.5 as they didn't have the info needed. When I worked there, one of the techs reset the speedo on my wifes 99 Durango. You have to get at it through the ABS system, if I remember correctly, section of the DRB. I would think you could do the same thing with the newer wifi based unit but as I have not done dealership stuff for 10 years I could be mistaken. The Smarty for sure has the feature to set revs per mile/kilo. Good luck!
