I was at the dealer today getting my truck serviced. The sales guy who knows me told me that all 2003 diesels will be the good old ISB for the first 6 months or so of production as there are many left over engines that have to get used up somehow! He said that DC just confirmed this today to all dealers. Does anyone know if this is just for Canada or the US market as well?

Yet another case of a dealer not knowing what he's talking about. They'd have to make some major changes to the current engine to fit it into the '03's. Since the engine is used in lots of other applications why would they need to use them up in the Ram's?

The dealer offered to show me the 'info sheet' he got from DC on this subject. I will copy it and scan it in if and when he shows it to me. He could just be blowing smoke and it sounded funny to me as well hence the question. I will be there tomorrow bugging him.

Does not sound right. I was at the Columbus rally at the plant. No one wants to keep inventory and maintain a wharehouse bigger than minimum. I was told on the tour that suppliers have a window to deliver parts that is only hours long. To early loss of incentives to the company. Too late big time inability to meet a contract. That also works for Cummins in its delivery to DC. The only possibility is 2002 sales took an unaticipated dive and DC has contracts for the engines to be delivered. That would be a DC screw up. Imagine that some buyers do not want to spend close to 40K on an "OLD" truck.

Your dealer is definetly wrong. Actually we had our zone rep call us a few days ago to try and sell us some trucks(02's) that are all ready speced out and in the order system but not built or sold. We decided to take a couple because we figured their would still be people who would want the 24 valve's especially as cheap as these vehicles are getting with all the great incentives. The way they determine what the trucks will have on em is by what parts they have left. These are the trucks they are making to get rid of the old parts, not 03's.
