Isl fuel return ??

Ok i have a question i have an 03-04 common rail isl and was wondering how much fuel the return line to the tank should have with the motor running at idle and of idle i have very little coming out the return and its hard to start at first but once its warmed up it starts alot easier also how much boost should it be putting out its a stock motor 400hp

It should have a pretty steady flow of return. How are you monitoring it?



Check your fuel filter. With the colder temps the fuel is harder to move. Once your up to op-temp the fuel is getting warm. The lift pump on the 03-04's are engine mounted and pull the fuel up to the engine. Not the best design especially for cold thick fuel.



In short if your fuel filter is good/clean. My guess would be a weak lift pump.
