Looking for a reputable transmission shop in Pa that’s good with rebuilding Chrysler transmissions (namely the 727 torqflite). The one in my truck doesn’t hold in park and is having a hard time up shifting so was told it’s probably due to the pawl being broken off which then affects the line pressure? Any input on a shop or the cause to the problem would be appreciated!

Check out some of these places. Goerend is a good supplier of parts for our trucks out of Iowa.

This is off their installer list.

Eastern Pa

I can't help you there. If you were on the western side, I would suggest Hodge Transmission in Connellsville. Ask to have Mark Grubbs work on your trans. They are not a diesel trans specialty shop per say, but they do a lot of them. And, something like a 727 is completely in their wheelhouse. I am not suggesting that you necessarily travel this far to find a shop, but if need be, I have the contact info.

I haven't been around there for a long time, but T&H Automotive, in Easton, PA used to be pretty well known for doing automatics. There was also T&D Auto, the original owner was the trans tech at Brown & Daub Chrysler Plymouth way, way back. No idea if he is still involved, but he would know Torqueflites. I hesitate to post this, as it is old info, but it might give you a start.

Chester County Transmission did alright on my 47RE (they knew about all the non-aftermarket upgrade parts at that time), I would probably consider them for my 727 if I don't find someone better.

Park pawl is totally mechanical, no hydraulic part is involved in it.
So that has for sure nothing to do with the shift problems you experience.
Anyway a rebuild is recommended.
