I have an EV series pyro I got last spring. Recently, it has been getitng a little jumpy- from 300-650 at cruise. I have moved the ground wire and hot wire, and it seems to have helped. But sometimes it goes 3-4 days and is ok. I remember reading somewhere that the amplifier box has been the culprit. Does this sound consistent with amplifier box problems? (Did a search, and found nothing that I could use. ) It has been reading a little low ,esp at cruise, but it has been cooler latlely, and I think my fuel filter may be clogged, lowering my EGT.

I emailed DIS, where I got the gauges, and they said the tech support guy was out of town till Monday. I was wondering if there was anything I could do that I may have overlooked.

Daniel, I had the exact same problem with mine about 6 months ago. The gauge would read off by about 300-400*, and eventually wouldn't read at all. Randy at DIS swore the problem was the Gauge head, and sent out a new one. Long story short, it ended up being the Pyro thermocouple itself. Call Brent or Randy and see if you can get a new one sent out under warranty- they are really good about warranty support.

Dkevdog,

Mine seemed to be more of a problem keeping a consistent reading than a slow decline- it'd be fine for a while, then bounce down a few times, maybe stay at 400 for a mile, then bounce back to normal.

DIS forwarded the message to Randy and he emailed me back this afternoon. I took the gauge off the pillar yesterday and unplugged it, blew the dust out, and glopped on some silicone grease; reassembled. So far so good (knock on wood). Told Randy I'd keep them updated. He said to call ISSPRO tech support and see what they had to say. I have about determined it wasnt the box, or it doesnt seem to be at this point.

Thermocouple?

If your thermocouple is pre-turbo, pull that sucker outa there and inspect it. Clean it off real good and check for cracks, warping, etc. Just a precaution, may save a turbo or more! Ron
