Well I have installed in my truck the ISSPRO EV series gages. They look good during the day and function properly so I am happy in that area. The only 2 issues I have with the gages is with the Pyrometer lighting and the boost rattle over 9 PSI.

The pyrometer works fine but at night it is difficult to read. I have excellent vision and still find the gage hard to read b/c of the insufficient lighting. You can make out the numbers however the lighting difference between my boost gage and pyrometer is drastic. The difference? It's like comparing 2 flashlights one with old batteries with the dim yellow light vs flash light with new ones, bright and a white light.

I would think the gages would be similar in lighting but they do have this issue. My EV fuel pressure gage lighting is like my boost gage so it seems that the pyrometer lighting is suspect.

The boost gage has a pulsating sound when you get the gage to read over 9 psi. I have heard similar issues from other members so it is common. Their is a fix of some sort, something to the effect of putting a fitting between the gage and the intake so that the air pulses are diminished and evened out.

I hope this helps in people's selection of gages. Isspro has nice gages however with these two issues I was disappointed.

CM,

I backed you in the other post and I'll back you here.

I have EXACTLY the same problem. I contacted AL at PDR too as I just bought my gauges from them.

My EGT and transmission Temp gauges are DRASTICALLY dimmer then my Boost/FP gauges and I've checked EVERYTHING. I think the lighting is just suspect. Not only is the gauge face itself dimmly lit, but the needle has practically no light to it. Its a bear to read at night, esp. w/o a long glance.

If anybody has found a solution for this, PLEASE let us know.

I have the Boost rattle too.

Overall, I'm VERY happy w/the gauges during the day and there layout, but the lighting just plain SUXS.

Finally, Isspro supplies a RIDICULOUSLY short length of wire for the transmission sender too. I actually had to cut the connector off the wiring, solder on like 5 ft of wire, and THEN it'd reach the transmission lines.

Can't believe they did this AND I had to pay Isspro for a gauge I had to do so much work to to get to work.

TIA.

Where do you have your Boost guage connected ? The vibrating can be easily and inexpensively fixed with a snubber. It might set you back all of about $3 or $4. Read This

As for the lighting, I've had Isspro gauges in both my trucks. And have had zero complaints. I have the rainbow Pyro and yes, it doesn't match 100% but it does what it supposed to do- read the EGT. Maybe you have different bulbs??

Sounds like you have the black faced gages and not the EV series white faced gages. So this lighting issue may be specific to the white faced gages hence I posted this for all the guys who planned on buying white faced gages to be aware of this issue.

Aesthetics is also part of the process of installing gages. That is why I have brought up the lighting issue. This may be a minor issue to some but to others it is part of their decision making process on gages. I wish someone would have told me that the pyro was hard to read, heck a picture would have been nice to illustrate the difference that we are talking about.

I haven't heard of issues with the lighting on the black faced gages. The boost gage is a known issue but I don't recall any others having the same pulsating sound with other brands.

I have the EVs and I have no complaints at all. I know what you're saying about the pyro being different but I can still read it with no problems.

**EDIT**

My EVs are also black faced...

CM- I do have the Black faced EV's, but I've seen several of the White faced gauge installs and didn't notice a problem.

MY EV were to bright

I installed black face EV series in a center POD, I had to add the plastic green condoms to over the bulbs, they were to bright at night, It a nice green colored light now, close to stock.

You sure you have not series wired the lights, they should be in parallel to get full voltage. If there series wired they would be real dull.

Well my lights are in parallel so there is no issue with power.

I talked with the aftermarket rep from Isspro, very personable, and she agrees that this is an issue with the white faced EV Pyro gage.

However they have no fix for this issue and could not do anything about the lighting issue. I wish I would have gotten the black faced gages but too late now.

I have heard different ways of making the pyro brighter but this is an aesthetic issue that Isspro needs to address. Still disappointed in the White faced EV gages.

Mine are Black face

Good luck on sorting something out, perhaps they need larger bulbs, Is it possible without burning something up.

My boost and trnny temp gauges are EV's. I noticed that the transmission (marked oil temp, not transmission temp) gauge uses 2 small bulbs and the boost uses 1 larger bulb. The trnny gauge is dimmer than the boost. Still easy to read. I used the bulb covers that came with them. Wish the Pyro was easier to read at night though.

Well, since comments about Isspro gauges are flying I'll pull the chocks on mine.

I have boost and pyro black EVs and just ordered a replacement for the rainbow pyro. I just don't see the numbers in the green well, night or day, so I'm going to get the other white character one to swap in. The green for go is fine but I've just been accustomed to reading the actual temperature and am not satisfied with merely knowing that I'm in the safe zone.

The light brightness is more than adequate in both gauges. I normally drive at night with all of the dash lights including the Isspros dimmed down about halfway to off.

My minor issue with the gauge series is about the convex curved lenses. They bring reflections from outside the truck that are mildly distracting and I guess that I'd prefer that they were flat.

CM, I think there are different wattage bulbs you can get. Maybe search the web...

Or if you want I am a Isspro Dealer and would be happy to swap your gauges out for new ones in whichever style of EV That you want... Just give me a call or email Thx Kurt 505-534-0434
