For anyone that has installed one of these. Looking at the instructions for this puppy I see a red/yellow wire for +5v. Is this a misprint or something? Where in the world would a +5v source be?

Scott

Scott,

I believe the gauge takes 12 volts DC from an ignition switched circuit, converts it to 5 volts DC, and sends that out to the sensor mounted on the intake manifold. The DC voltage returning on the green wire from the sensor is used by the gauge to determine the boost pressure.

Hope that helps,

John L.

John,

If that is how it works it does make sense. I know there is no source like that anywhere on the truck.

Actually Scott, there are 5v DC circuits all over your engine compartment! That voltage is very commonly used for sensor circuits. It's produced by both the PCM and ECM on your truck. Having the Isspro EV2 gauges use 5v DC for their sensors is really no surprise.

If you're considering buying EV2 gauges, you won't be disappointed. They're high quality gauges made right here in the USA by an Oregon company.

Drive safely,

I believe the gauge converts the power, or the circuit you connect to is the 5volts, one or the other. I have the EV2 gauges, they are GREAT gauges, you will be more than happy with them.

I liked the EV2's so much I added 6

Here is another one. For the pyro it shows in the #6 slot a bare wire for ground.

Correction:

Never mind I found it tucked away with the wires from the egt probe.

Got all 4 in today and holy cow these things are sweet. Can't believe I got everything wired right the first time. The little tool they supply to help push the wires into the connectors needs some improvement. At times it was difficult to use, it was easier to just use a flat screwdriver. Sure was nice not having to cut any wires, use any connectors or splice things together. ISSPRO sure made it easy to install these gauges, daisy chaining each gauge from the dimmer was a snap as well as placing the wires for each of the sensors.

I had the egt probe post turbo, moved it to the exhaust manifold and man does it move when I get on it. It didn't move that much or that fast when it was post turbo. They are definitely not cheap gauges but well worth it.

i bought mine several yrs ago at dieselmanor.com they came with very good instructions..... look on there web site and you can get the instructions... . good luck

I've had the EVO gages for over a year now and I've gone through 2 egt gages and they will ABSOLUTLY not work unless it is hooked directly to the battery. Last year I even stopped by the factory in Oregon to get help and that was also the only way they could get the egt to work. I just finished driving from Florida to Tacoma with the truck and the boost gage would go from 0 to max defelection every 5 to 10 seconds. This lasted until about Sacramento Ca then settled down and worked properly. I will go without before I buy another set of Isspro's

I like the EV2 guages but they are a bit noisy fom their internal motor. Took me a while to figure out where the noise was coming from, it was driving me nuts until i figured it out.

Collin, I am glad to hear yours make noise. My Rail Pressure makes noise and it used to annoy me to the point I thought something was wrong.

I love the lighting of the EV2s By far the easiest for me to see in the dark with the Autometer Phantoms 2nd. The Phantoms have the orange needle which is not my favorite but they too can be read at a glance. My DiPricos are the worst to read at night.

I need to figure out why the fuel pressure gauge has a " tick " to it. Seems to jump up or down about a pound constantly. Sometimes it drops four or five pounds then back to normal with the above mentioned tick. My sending unit is about four feet from the VP44 inlet, not sure if pulses from the pump are doing this or not my last gauge didn't do it at all. This gauge is the only one I hear making any noise (clicking ) due to it bouncing around.

The noise is the nature of the stepper motor inside the gauge from what I have read.

The noise is from the stepper motor, but if you have never heard it and are not used to it, it sounds like something coming from the body or panels of the truck. I Like the guages but could do with out the noise. I remember my old isspro guages worked smooth and fine w/o the motor, I wonder what the benefit is.
