Sounds like this is not the first time. Are you sure you don't have a ground problem. Lots of people try and use a ground wire to the battery which in this case will cause crazy readings as the loads fluctuate. Gauge must be grounded to the frame of the vehicle only. Just an idea.
I had purchased my gauges from Genos and was offered a warranty replacement sender until I found my ground problem
I have had the same problem for some time now. . for some reason the gauge will start going crazy, spiking the needle and then fluctuating all over the place. Then it returns to normal and will hold there until it decideds to wig out again??
I'll have to check and see how it's grounded... . that may be my problem?
The gauge itself is nothing more than an ohmmeter reading the resistance of the sensor. If your gauge is wigging out a lot you could connect the wires to a multimeter while driving and see if it still wigs out. Good way to diagnoss the problem. I'm bettin the problem is ground related.
