So here is my question. Anyone have any problems with the isspro transmission gauge. Mine will not pick up temp. I have the sender in the cooler line with diesel mass kit. All wiring appears correct. So is a sender or a module malfunction more likely or just the gauge? It does light up and all my other gauges work. I bought them from Dieselmanor so I will call him tommorrow. Any ideas??

I have one but its setting on my desk.

First off the lighting has nothing to do with the rest of the gauges operation because that is a separate circuit.

You could do a couple things-

1) un plug the sensor and put a jumper wire on the harness between those two terminals, turn the key on and see if the needle responds.

2) measure the resistance across the sensors terminals if you have a good DVOM and I will do the same and we can compare.

Depending on how cold it is, the gauge may take a bit to pick up a temp. Has it worked before?

I live in Texas, and mine took a few minutes this morning to get a temp. It was 27 degrees here today, not below zero like I'm reading about other, more northern places.....

No gauge has never worked. I knew the lighting was seperate my lack of being descriptive I used the same ground point for the gauges and lighting. I did not know if you could short out the terminals and check gauge (connect the sensor wires together)

Me too, transmission gauge.

Ran mine 600 miles non-stop to Florida, 1 week ago.

Never came off the post.

Fireman wehre are you located? That may have everything to do with your problem. If it's cold where your at, then you aren't going to get a reading.

Well I wish but ambient air temp around 40-60 degrees should at least register around 100 on the transmission probably more.

On the instruction sheet, which is a little tough to make sense of, there is a troubleshooting section. Diconnect the plug at the sender, they give you a room temperature Ohm reading to look for on the sender, then jump the plug that you removed from the sender and the gauge should sweep up about 1/4 way around the face and return to peg zero. If it passes those tests all is well. I am replaceing mine with a boost/egt combo.

Hi fireman,

Try grounding out the sender (orange) wire. There are 2 of them. Do this at the amp. box. Try 1 first and then the other. There needs to be power to the gauge when doing this, so make sure that the ign is on. You should see the needle go to full sweep. If it does not, then you have a bad amp box. Give us a call or email and we'll get you a replacement sent out today.

I'm no expert on the 48RE and my other trucks a 79' PowerWagon with the 360 727. My experience with cobolt trans temp and the Mass Diesel in-line sender install is: My guage never moved until I drove at least 20 minutes NOT letting the converter lock-up. When my converter is not locked up, fluid is 1) circulating via colling lines, 2) actually slipping/heating-up in the converter. My guage finally came off the peg. I was sweating bullits thinking I gooned up the install when actually the trans was designed to stay cool by the converter lock-up feature and the nuetral drop off feature. Before you second guess yourself, I'd at least take the truck for a half hour drive threw the city not letting it lock-up and see what you get. ---------RJ

I'm in the Pacific Northwest and if I'm driving on the interstate this time of year, the gauge will not go off "0", however, if I am driving in town, stop and go it gets up to about 120-130*. Freeway driving with the torque converter locked up produces very little heat this time of year.

When I first installed it, I also wondered if it was working.

Where does the Mass line put the sender tip? Could it also be that an air pocket between the tip and fluid is the trouble?

I don't think that is possible. The probe is in a vertical part of the line.

well thanks for all the help,I guess the transmission cooler really works because only until I backed my trailer into my driveway today did the gauge work or show a temp increase. As for the questions about the transmission cooler line it will make a mess. Would have been less if it was not getting dark outside when I went to put it on the tricky part is the connection to the transmission. The port is slightly back and up not straight in. Once i figured that out went in fine. I am having some minor leaking from all the fittings where the probe goes. I will wait and see if tighting them a little works.

I had a problem with my Isspro gauges also the temp would not come off the peg. I spoke to Kenny at ken's performance and he gave me some help. I will try to pass this information on to you.

1. check the wires both Pos and neg going to the unit box. If ok try

2. removing the sender put it a bowl/pan of water see if you get a ohm reading if so, you should be ok.

3. I used the Mass diesel line on mine and had the sender mounted in an upright position after an elbow. I found that turning the elbow down and re-mounting the sender I now get a reading after 15/20 minutes of normal driving.

Hope this helps some.

I could not get mine to stop leaking. I had it in and out a few times and finally gave up. It seems like the factory line has a seam in the tubing that prevents the flare from seating properly. Scott at Mass Diesel is a straight up guy, though, and when I'm ready for my DTT I'll be looking him up again.

Has never worked!

My temperature sensor is mounted in a MagHytech transmission pan on a DTT. I have never seen mine move off of the peg. Replaced my sensor with an "upgrade" that the Isspro rep mailed to me. He said there were some issues with some of them. The new one was a much thinner gauge of wire. Same as the old, it never budged off the peg. I know that the temperature is pushing at least 150* while towing. Turns out the fine wire on the new one was not even making contact with the metal crimps inside the plastic connector! Reinstalled the old one and will next try the orange wire ground test that David from Diesel Manor spoke of.

Not much else to the system except the sending unit box.

I have not worried very much about the temperature reading not working since the DTT transmission was my first "bomb" after a stock transmission failure with zero mods.

I need to take care of this issue before the Isspro warranty expires.

Got my 4 gauge setup from Diesel Manor as well. Great service!!
