In following Bob Patton and John Martin's discussion of the analysis of 8 oil samples, I don't agree with their findings on the results for Mobil Delvac 1300. I have run oil analysis on my crankcase drains almost since my engine was new in 96 and the results don't juve with Johns.
John showed the analysis of new oil for calcium to be at 1379 and my used oil analysis consistently has averaged in the low to mid 2000's
Phosphorus he analyzed new at 982 and my used samples average about 11-1300.
Zinc he shows new at 1028 and my used samples always test about 11-1400
I have always used Mobil Delvac 1300 for 116889 miles and am quite happy with my oil analysis results and have NEVER found the low results that he is saying is present in a New Mobil sample.
I would be glad to assemble my results on an Excell spreadsheet for all to view and comment. I would also be interested for someone to list the readings that analysis would show leading up to engine wearout.
My analysis is done by Monitor (valvoline) and I have always used the better Fleetguard LF3552 filter which is 100% efficient (higher than the standard Fleetguard)
