My truck (04 3500 with 90K on the clock) is sitting at a local dealer today... It's now into its 3 full day and I'm not sure they really know whats wrong with it... but they've spent 500 of my money installing parts that haven't fixed the problem..... The computer says this is bad so we put it on your truck but the problem hasn't changed... you know the story... . BTW each part so far has been a star part... . they can't stock... so a day goes by waiting for the part..... the call 5 minutes ago said it might be the lift pump so I'm guessing were now talking 1000 not 500.
I feel embarrased to share this with you... . After all I work in this industry, But this is why I was writing today.....
But while I was sitting there during day 3 I noticed a guy in a back office calling customers and talking to them on the phone... I'm sorry but my hearing isn't all that good... but what surprised me... . was the tape recorder hooked to the phone and him turning it on with each call..... I've been around in this industry for almost 35 years..... and am surprised that this was still being done... . When I asked the service writer about it... he quickly shut the door to the office and denied it.....
In my opinion the only guys that do this kind of thing are your insurance companies who want a report on an accident and don't want to take the time to see you personally so they take a recorded statement over the phone after first telling you about it.....
My other experiences with this has always been bad... . when a repair shop is looking for approval above a quote and use the information to add on or add to the bill and confuse the customer with the end results... .
I know a few of you work for dealers... . I'd like to hear your take on this... . I called the guy I usally deal with in this store for his take on the issue and he wasn't aware it was happening... . As soon as my truck is done I'm not going back for other service work... ...
I just can't in my own mind see why they need to do this... . nor can I see something good happening from this..... Please give me some insight... .
