Issue with item from Classfieds

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to put this?



Anyway, a while back I was looking for the clear plastic piece that goes in front of the guages, since mine is all scratched and foggy.



I received an email from Larry. (tdrthomas1@netzero) saying he had one for $30 plus shipping. We later decided on $35 shipped and he wanted a money order. I sent a money order out on March 13 and still haven't seen that trim piece. Larry said he shipped it (parcel post).



I went to the post office and they said he could find a lost item form. I emailed the info at the beginning of this month, and I haven't heard from him.



Now it's very possible the post office did loose that package. I'm just wondering if anyone knows Larry or has a phone # for him, etc that I could get ahold of him, since the email thing isn't working out.

ahh man o man. I had an issue with the post office once before with something I sold from an ebay auction that never showed up. I always get a delivery confirmation or some sort of way to track it now. Losing a package with them is the worst place to lose one.

I don't know what to tell you but I am dealing with the same thing.



My son purchased a pellet rifle from a guy online and he sent it to the wrong address via US Mail. He said that he will send it to us as soon as it comes back to him. It's been two months.



The shipper is responsible for taking care of you. If it was lost then Larry needs to take care of you.

I have shipped hundreds of packages by usps and the service is almost 2 days anywhere in the lower 48



always insured and never lost a package that was insured

Right, I do think it's Larry's job to make this right, but I haven't been able to get ahold of him other than the couple emails he sent me.



When I sell stuff on ebay I put a tracking number on it as well. It's only $0. 50. That way I'm protected, and so is the buyer. Larry told me after the fact that he sent it parcel post because he thought it would only be $5 to ship but it turned out to be more. He emailed me asking for more $$. We had agreed on $35 shipped.

I'm not saying that Larry didn't actually mail out the item, though if I was in his situtation, I would at least get ahold of the Post Office... be a little proactive. It just seems that he is like... "well I got the money, I mailed it. Tough crap if the post office lost it. I filled my end of the deal"



I may as well have took $35 and flushed it down the toilet. $35 is groceries for a few weeks for me

You can however polish up your old one. Toothpaste works great, so does plastic polish like the stuff they use down on the flight line to polish canopies. Just takes a bit of elbow grease.

TDR needs a classifieds rating system for sellers and buyers sort of what ebay has.

Well "Larry" sent me an email a few days ago:



"your gave me the wrong address,i am going to send the package c,o,d for the extra postage,10. 00 please send me your correct address,as soon as i recieve your correct address,i will send it to you... ... "



Now I emailed him my address again. I had emailed it to him and I also wrote it down on the money order back in March when I bought the bezel from him.



We agreed on $5 for shipping. $35 in total:



"it is used, and no scaatches,the shipping ,by the time you box it up to keep from getting damage ,it will cost at least 5. 00. . yes it off a 98,. lets make sure that we are talking about the same cover, its about10'' tall and covers the speedo,tach,oil pressure and all the gauges,and is about24'-38'' long and goes just above the steering column ,,,, if interested mail me a money order or cashier check for 35. 00 and i will get it in the mail to you. . "



Then later:



"hey nate got your money order 3-20 ,the package is over size its going to cost about 11. 00 i will go ahead and send it, the next time i go to post office, and you can send me the difference in postage, thanks larry"





Now I have pulled this bezel off before, and there is no way it's "oversize", though I do see it costing $11. So I told him I could paypal the money or send a check... Nope, has to be a money order.



Also I paid him $5 for shipping already, and in the recent email he wants another $10.

It cost $11 to ship, so he's charging me $15... when we agreed on $5.



I sell items on eBay from time to time and I've had to "eat" a $4-5 in shipping a few times because I misjudged the shipping cost. That's my mistake, I don't make the customer pay extra when we already agreed on a shipping price.



I'm not sure if "Larry" understand how this "buying and selling" thing works, but it's getting very agrivating. At the least, I'd like my money back.



If I don't receive anything by the end of next week, I'm going to head to the Post Office and see about filing some sort of mail fraud complaint. It's not that $35 is a ton of money, but it's the fact that I may as well of just wiped my butt with it and flushed it.



My buddy has the Flitz system. I think I'll give that a shot. I don't know what got on my bezel, but other than it being scratched up badly, it's got cloudy spots in it, like brake cleaner got sprayed on it.



As for the buy/sell. I'm curious why the classifieds aren't just a topic on the actual forum. Most web boards do it that way. You want to sell something, you post a thread, same for wanteds, freebies, etc.

The problem lies with him. Obviously this guy can't keep a deal and is not good to deal with.

I bought a product from you almost 3 MONTHS ago, and yet you have failed

i mailed you dash piece again, with what i hope is the right address,again it cost me 11. 60 ,to mail, i have spent a total of 23. 20 if you don't recieve it this time, i am not going to send it again,it is mailed priorty mail and i have proof of both mailings,,,,,it was mailed for the last time on the 2nd of june 2006 at 11:59 am... i can not help it that you don' t know your own address, i hope i never have to deal with a person like you again i sell over the interent at e-bay i have sold over a 110 items with 100% feedback that tells what kind of person i am. , have a nice day,,,,,,,,,,,





Now I gave him the correct address both times, so I have no idea where this "I can't help it if you don't know your own address" statement comes from. Now it's possible the Post Office kicked it back the first time for some reason.



Either way, Larry emailed me May 21 to tell me that it came back to him and he was going to mail it again. I emailed him back that same day. So it took him almost 2 weeks to decide to mail it back to me?



"a person like me" HA HA! I sent the money... A money order, just like he asked in a timely fashion. In fact I sent it out on 13 March 06! It has taken him 3 months to send me the bezel... and I still don't have it.

Does priority mail have a tracking number? Ask him to fax you a copy of the "proof" - maybe he'll get the fax number correct!



Maybe he had one of those Priority Mail envelopes, but put the wrong postage on it instead of going to the desk and having them do it?

Well get this... I got it yesterday, but it's not what I bought!



What Larry sent me is the black trim piece that goes around the guages, HVAC, etc. The one on my truck is messed up, so I'm going to use it.



What I bought from him was the clear bezel that goes in front of the guages. I'm not sure how he confused a clear plastic piece for a big black piece?



The box looked like it was floated down the river and given to a pack of wild dogs. It was even spray painted a few different colors!



His story doesn't exactly mesh either. He said he sent it parcel post and it was $11. 60 and it was kicked back to him, apparently for a wrong address.



2nd time he mailed it Priority Mail and it was $11. 60.



Now I don't remember Parcel Post ever costing the same as Priority Mail?







Oh, I am still looking for the clear piece, if anyone has one in good shape, let me know. I might pull it out this weekend and see what the Flitz will do.
