Electronic 4WD Shifter not letting me out of 4WD

Hello everyone,

I own a 2005, 2500. I've been having issues getting the column shifter out of Park. I would say this happens about 50% of the time. If I put a little force (but not too much), it comes out. It tends to get out of Park easier if I have the E-Brake set while in N when I go to park, but it will even get jammed up there as well. When I'm in Reverse or Drive, everything operates as designed. I do not feel any issues from the transmission as it shifts perfectly through all the gears. I checked the brake sensor which seems fine and shifter sensor/solenoid I believe is fine. I took apart the clam shell and noticed the interlock pin (not sure of the exact part name) operates correctly. I think I'm either looking at a Shifter that is worn or jammed up sometimes or potentially a valve body issue. Has anyone had this issue before?

Are you having this issue when parking on a slight incline? If so, you have a lot of pressure on the parking pawl causing the shifting issue.

A worn or aftermarket PN switch can do the same. It can virtually lock the rooster comb.
Been there done that.

Incline? That parking pawl comes out no matter what, by design it is forced out pretty easily just the sound is frightening under heavy load.

Also the shift interlock below the steering wheel can be worn and interfere with the function.
I'd start right there with trouble shooting.
