Isuzu Pickup with a d-max??

I am in the Philippines right now doing an exercise, our driver took us to the mall the other day and I saw an Isuzu Pickup with the words "D-max 3. 1" on the tailgate (at least I remember it being 3. 1, I had had a few to drink). I tried doing some research but couldn't really find anything about an actual Isuzu pickup with a duramax.



I know Isuzu makes these engines and puts them in GM pickups... . never heard of them in an Isuzu pickup before. Am I doing horrible research or did I run into a rare asian treat??

ask and you shall receive... . nothing real surprising though. Diesel are far more prevalent in foreign countries as they have embraced the technology unlike the EPA... .

Have to agree with you there, seeing most of Mainland Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines, Diesel engines are far more common here than you see just about anywhere in the United States.



Still have yet to see a CTD!!

If the door to this country ever opens to the foreign (Asian) diesel trucks, it will be the end of DC, Ford and GM. Even in the 1500 class, they could do enough damage in the US customer base thru buyers who want diesel economy mixed with only occasional or lighter weight towing, to seriously erode the truck markets that are about the only thing keeping our "big 3" in the game. If Ford or DC lose their truck marked - or even significant portions of them, they're dead meat!

Agreed... and I think that's why the announcement from Cummins last week was important for the future of DC. Even though it's years away from reality, the option of light-duty diesels for the 1/2 ton and SUV/small truck classes shows that the higher ups at DC aren't completely clueless.
