I took my truck and camper to the coast for the weekend and as I was driving up the 8% grade of the #5 highway, I was maintaining 70 mph with pedal left. As I passed two GMC trackers, a Pontiac Sprint and a couple of 1/2 ton pu's towing small utility trailers, I thought; this is quite a truck! :D

My truck is bone stock, gets excellent mileage and hasn't been back to the dealer since the day I drove it off the lot. Truck is rock solid and stable with the slide-in on. Happy, happy, happy!

Reminds me of last summer when we went to Nashville, TN towing our previous 5ver (before anyone faints, it had the Michelin XPS Ribs). I was in the hammer lane of I-40 eastbound between Jackson and Memphis running right around the speed limit and passing the semis on the uphills. The boys in the "large cars" looked astounded at the little old "peanut diesel" coming around them! :-laf

Dave... I too am impressed with my 3gen even over my 02. Without a rear weight transfer bar like my 02 Camper Special had I could haul my BigFoot with ease at legal speeds. The wider frame really helps there. I have had to put some spacers between the overload springs and stops to take up the slack immediately when the camper goes on. That way it does not sag so much with the loaded camper (9. 6). Now I have T-Rex and testing some injectors (have not seen truck for a month... on east coast for a while) and a flatbed so stock no more. I did rub the tail lights with the camper though. Not the same as an 02! George

Wife and I just got back from a three week trip to Brittish Columbia with our Bigfoot. This truck does not recognize hills!! We turned in a respectable 13. 5 mpg with the camper on. Going in for the reflash tomorrow. Will see if the milage goes up.

So,

We have a few Bigfoot owners on the TDR.

GFritsch, I hope you had a good trip up here.

Did I mention that I love my truck?! I've been driving it for a year now and I can honestly say that if something were to happen to it (god forbid!), I'd rush out and get the exact same truck. The only thing I might change would be the color, simply because the Patriot Blue really shows the rock chips. On the other hand, my 3-M paint protection film is being installed today. I should have done it the first week after taking delivery, but I didn't know about it then.

I wish I was as happy with everything I bought as I am with this truck. My wifes TJ is so much easier to park around town than the truck (especially since my camper is on it alot of the time), but I still find myself taking the dually to the corner store because I just like driving it.

Cheers,

Dave
