My DW got t-boned Saturday and totaled her 2004 Buick Rainier 5.3 V8 with 70K on the clock. She is sore and bruised put OK.

So Sunday we drove a bunch of SUVs. Yesterday a twin turbo 2.7L 335hp/380 lb ft Eco-boost 2020 Ford Edge ST came home with us. Great deal, it was a dealer loaner with 1500 miles on it and 9,500 bucks off sticker.

Man, 335HP is excellent power. you will light up those tires and leave a big cloud of smoke. When she is not looking...

Glad she is ok Chris!

Those Ecoboost are some real rockets!

I think Henry and Elon are in cohoots :D

I think Ford would be the only American passenger car I’d consider at this point.
What are some of the others you considered?

We drove a 2014 Highlander, a 2020 Chevy Traverse, a 2019 Tahoe and a 2015 Edge Sport with a 310-315 HP V6 Eco-boost. There was no turning back at that point. Insurance people called today and they are giving us 7K+change for the Buick.

Sorry to hear your DW went through the tenderizing mill, but REALLY glad she is OK.
Great replacement vehicle chosen. Bet both of you will enjoy it for sure.
Keep an eye on her Chris. With that kind of available horsepower, sweet DW's have an inner spirited driver pop out when unobserved...;):)
All the best to you both.

Glad your wife is okay. I worry every time we drive because there are so many inattentive drivers out there. Those ecoboost engines are pretty nice. My 86 year-old mother in law has a four cylinder ecoboost in her Escape. Hot rod granny!

You happy with 7K ?
Yes

If the hit would have been 3 or 4' farther back the outcome for DW would have been a lot different. The front clip got put across forcing the passenger finder in the door so it will not open.

This was a very nice CLX Plus 5.3 V8 AWD 2004 Rainier with 70K on the clock. We bought it in March of 2005 with 4500 miles. Dealer's wife had been driving it and we got it deeply discounted. It was in pristine shape, and she loved as it turned on a dime and gave one change.

Well Friday and today we did road trips with the new fun to drive Edge ST. Filled it up this afternoon, 256 miles and 10.939 gals. AKA hand calculated 23.4 and lie-o-meter 22.8. So pretty happy as I was doing some spirited driving Friday on the longer loop through NW Washington. The eight speed transmission is quite smooth and you seldom realize it has shifted. When go get off the go pedal it coast freely, so I am having to get use to using service brakes, as with the RAM I always have the exhaust brake on, and use of service brakes is only seldom at the end of an off ramp or at a stop light.

I out of honor studied the Dodge Journey which is about the same size(among other SUVs) and the reports on it's V6 were not good.

Boost on!
