20 Moments that made the 426 HEMI Great

Dodge Challenger Super Stock.

Very nice Edge Snoking, I came very close to buying one very similar. Glad your missus came out ok!

Thanks Mike. Some do not think is deserves the ST badge. But to a war baby born in 44 it is a much better driving and much more fun than the Buick Rainier 5.3 V8 it replaced.

The internet says this about my old 67 SS/RS 350 Camaro:
0 to 60 mph in 8.0 sec, with the quarter mile coming up in 15.4 sec at 90 mph.

2020 Edge ST:
0 to 60 mph in 5.7 sec and the quarter mile drag time is 14.3 and 98 MPH

And the Edge would run away and hide from the old Camaro in the twisties. I drove that Camaro a lot on Highway 1 on the Northern California Coast while stationed at Point Arena, Ca Loran A station there. Best to drive that road North bound if one has a DW riding shotgun. It is a bit like Pikes Peak, "real women do not need guard rails"! My DW said BS.

Here is an additional amazing things. The 67 SS 350 weighed slightly around 3000 pounds and the 2020 Edge weights around 4400 pounds. The Camaro was 5.7L and the Edge 2.7L. The Camaro was 295 HP and the Edge 335 HP. Both are listed at 380 lb ft of torque.

The Edge totting a 3/4 of a ton more weight and only 40 more HP is faster. Listed top speed of Edge is around 130 MPH, Camaro 116 MPH.

So why is the Edge faster 0-60 and in the 1/4 mile. Intelligent AWD! It does it's thing without spinning a wheel. And the 67 Camaro mono leaf rear springs had a hard time with wheel hop. In 68 they stagger the rear rear shocks and used multi leaf rear springs. Weight distribution on the Camaro was not good at 57/43. Edge is most likely around 50/50, however I can not find that spec.

That is a huge understatement...;):D My wife and I were on that road years ago, going both directions, pulling a travel trailer. She's screaming, Go slower!!! I'm stating, If we go any slower we'd be going in reverse. Women!!! Gotta love 'em! ;):):D

We drove a 2014 Highlander, a 2020 Chevy Traverse, a 2019 Tahoe and a 2015 Edge Sport with a 310-315 HP V6 Eco-boost. There was no turning back at that point. Insurance people called today and they are giving us 7K+change for the Buick.
Glad she's OK. Those Edge's are nice especially with the twin turbo. Rockets. Take it from a guy who got rear ended at high speed, my neck hurts everyday for 20 yrs now. I settled for a pittance. The other guy's insurance may approach her with an offering for pain and suffering. Let it go for a year(California two yrs). Soft tissue damage shows up later. It's not being greedy it's just looking out for herself. The companies could care less. Enjoy the rocket. Let us know the real mpg.
