Rad Hose for a GMC/Chevy Conversion

Need alt for a Chevy truck/4bt - Please help

So i got it running but there is oil leaking out a small hole on the front of the oil filter adapter. the motor came out of an accident truck, the alternator bracket, rad hoseneck/air comp brkt and air comp were all broke, but i looked at the filter and adapter and could see no signs of damage. Is there something that is supposed to be in that hole? Dana

If you are referring to the threaded hole that the oil filters housing mounts have on them, its for an oil pressure gauge to read pressure through. I forget the threading size, I'm thinking 8MM fine thread. It will spurt like a geyser if you have it unplugged, I am surprised you consider it just a LEAK!!!!

the hole i am refering to is on the front of the oil filter mount, pointing forward its very small 1/8 or less, i am going to have to remove the alt to be able to see it properly. i think you are refering to the extra hole on the top which is plugged. the leak is dripping onto the floor but it is certainly not shooting like a geyser. i have tried sticking am small pick in it and it seems like there might be a plug in there, but if there is it obviously is not working. i am putting the rad support back on so i can install the rad and run the truck long enough to get out and have a look while its running Dana

If it's on the flat surface that is about 1 inch tall x 2 inches long then that is a extremely thin place on the oil filter housing. It's not paper thin but not too beefy. If you unscrew the old filter and stick your finger up inside of their Then peck on the outside with our your pocket knife you will see what I'm talking about. Then you can shine a flashlight up from the bottom and see what you actually have. I guarantee its two thin to try drilling and tapping in that area. Maybe it is a flaw in the casting that the impact found for you

See what a small pen light will get ya' :D

come on guys there are a lot of knowledgeable people put there ,somebody must have an answer.

Answer, REPLACE THE MOUNT (with a new one or a used one).

If its too thin to plug with drill and threaded plug, how much time is it worth verses just getting past it. If it is damage from the wreck, you should also be checking the internal section of both the filter spin on mount as well as the back side of the mount/oil cooler for further issues. Have it TIG welded shut if you want to "save " money, most likely if it punched a hole in it, it also put hair line cracks in it that will break in the near future.

Actually , the only reason that I know the oil filter housing is that thin, in that area is because one day I had a flat blade screwdriver and wus trying to pop the hood latch on my 91. (the release cable had broke)

This pick up hadn't been driven in a year or so and when I managed to get the hood open, I startled a big rat that had made a nest on top of the motor. He took off in the direction of the oil filter and air intake hose. I was leaning over the front end, trying to stab him with the screwdriver and poked a hole in the top of the old filter housing next to the threaded bosses. That is how I discovered how thin the area on top and on the sides are. :-laf :(
