It Was A Snap!!!!

[TORQUE THIS]

First oil change, not a glich. Thanks to the member posting about the 1/2 drive strap wrench, and the plastic bag around the filter. The whole job was done in about 20 minutes, even tightened up all intercooler clamps (boy were they loose)!!! Next step is to install the gauges. With all I have read about gauge installation, I'm sure that will be easy also. This site and all it's members are the best. Thanks to all!!!! #ad

Before you dismiss any problems with intercooler connections, take the rubber boots off and check for raised casting ridges on the aluminum parts. These can cause boost leaks, which will rob you of power & economy. #ad

I have a 2001. 5 with the spring loaded clamps. They are visually screwed all the way down, with the spring compressed. I have not tried to tighten them, yet. Am I missing something here? It does not appear to me that I could tighten the clamps, even if I tried. Agree with your post Evan, that you could still have leaks with tight clamps.

Dam now i have to rememger the correct name of the clamps--consent torque--(trade name) the springs should not be mashed down. . (OVER TORQUE'D)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now some one wants to know the correct Inch pound's of torque, do you have a inch lb torque wrench?? IF not bother.
EXample ,a little is good, a lot is better?
speed limit 60 -lets go 120 BETTER result?? can get there faster!!!I could tell you the correct T--but i would have to think hard -or-see the mfg of your clamp,-size-or get out the manual/mfg guide-,and it the week end.
