My 93 doesn't shut down like it should, turn the key off and it will go to a slow idle and then finally die. Sometimes it takes longer than others but not more than 4-5 seconds usually less. I took the plunger out of the shutdown solenoid. It looked OK, no metal shavings and the rubber tip was all there and didn't really appear worn. I stretched the spring out a little and put it back together, it worked great for about 3-4 times at the shop but did the same thing after I drove it. I am thinking I need the plunger, spring, and the o-ring that goes around it. Is there a source for that stuff( I guess A fuel shop would have it)? Anybody had the same issue, I saw several posts about the rubber tip coming apart but mine isn't.

Thanks,

Matt

I recently ran into this problem with a brand new shut off solenoid. I had been working on reindexing the pump at the time. I suspect that due to the high idle, coupled with, incorrectly re-indexing the pump that the shut off idle problem was due to too much fuel entering the high PSI chamber for the shut off solenoid to overcome that flow. With the idle set correctly it works fine.

Just a thought.

Mine does idle a little fast from turning the fuel screw up so it may help slowing the idle a little more. It's not real consistent though, one time will work decent, the next time you are thinking about killing it in gear but it eventually quits.

Don,

I went the extra cheap route and hooked up an old choke cable for a shut off. Before that I was popping the hood and pulling the lever... but that was too much like exercise.

Don,

For that price I think I will try a new solenoid, looks like it comes complete with a plunger. I am not looking to put a cable on it as someone else might might drive it, not to mention I want to be able to shut it off quick and walk away.

If there is a case or possible kamasu dealer theyd have it to with out mail order but still its cheaper than everwere else for them
