HERE'S MY SITUATION I ORDERED MY TRUCK ON NOV 4. MY TRUCK WAS BUILT IN ST. LOUIS, MO ON FEB 5 AND 6. IT WAS THEN SHIPPED TO IL BY THE UNION PACIFIC. FROM HERE THE RR CAR CHANGED FROM UNION PACIFIC TO CSX AND CONTINUED THROUGH ILLINOIS THEN INDIANA THEN DOWN TO KENTUCKY BACK UP TO OHIO THEN TO PA AND NOW ITS GOING TO MARYLAND WITH ITS FINAL DESTINATION POINT BEING TWIN OAKS OUTSIDE OF PHILA, PA. I THINK MY TRUCK HAS BEEN THROUGH MORE STATES THAN ME. I WAS JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE'S FACTORY ORDER TOOK SO LONG TO HIT THE GROUND? MY DEALER EVEN HAD ALLOCATION FOR THE 6SPD WHEN I ORDERED MY TRUCK!!! JUST HAD TO GET THIS OFF MY CHEST B/C THE WAIT IS KILLING ME.

I feel your pain. My truck was built on 2/15 and its been doing the 12 state tour, too. At the rate its going, its going to be at least another 2 weeks. Im dying!

CUMAPART,

I have one on order too. I think it got built on the 16th of February. I called the customer support number on Thursday and it hasn't left St. Louis yet. I was hoping to have it by now--the wait is hard going--and I've only been waiting for 6 weeks.

This wouldn't be so bad, but I had to sell my perfectly good Toyota in order to get a good price. I'm driving a borrowed Mazda 2wd beater until then. I'd forgotten what it's like to get shut down when it snows!

There have been several posts of folks having long waits followed by lot of moral support and posts saying, "It's worth the wait. "

I will tell you I'm getting tired of reading and looking at pictures.

Matt

Well guys,I hate to be the bearer of bad news ..... your wait is going to be longer. The problem is the railroad engineers (the ones who drive the train) went on strike, no rail traffic is moving in the USA! Delays can be upto two weeks!

<font color=blue>

I am kidding. Couldn't resist poking a lil fun. For those of you West of the Mississippi River if you get the railcar number I can tell you where it is and what train its on... ... ... ... . cuz UP handles all DaimlerChrysler traffic West of the Mighty Mississippi. You eastern guys its a toss up between CSX and Norfolk Southern... ... ... ... . <font size=-2>

KAT DIESEL, I THINK THAT I KNEW EVERYONE OF THE OPERATORS' NAMES AT THE DC 800 NUMBER BY THE TONE OF THEIR VOICE. I CHECK CSX'S 800 TRACE NUMBER ABOUT ONCE EVERY 6 HOURS JUST FOR AN UPDATE! #ad
ONE GOOD THING IS THAT I HAVE MY VIN# AND RR CAR# MEMORIZED. NOW WITH THE BIG SNOW THATS GOING TO HIT US WITH ABOUT 2 FEET OF SNOW THE WAIT WILL BE LONGER!BUT LIKE THEY SAY GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT #ad

Why yes I do as a matter of fact... ... ... . me! #ad

I am a train dispatcher for UP, I work the Colorado area tho.

I suspected that, nice to speak with a fellow railroader... . I'm a UPFE carman based in Houston.

Englewood or Segettest? (however you spell it #ad
)

I work the old DRGW jobs (basically all of CO). Theres a Conductor runing around here somewhere thats out of Ft Worth I think if I recall. I forget his exact handle..... I'll find it in a bit.

My dad has worked for the RR (SP before they merged) since 1977 so I am "at home" on the railroad. Born in Ennis, Tx, also lived in Spring, TX and CastleRock, CO all for the railroad (my dad was a conductor, dispatcher, and now Corridor Manager). I moved to Omaha, NE for the RR. Only been with them since June of 98.

I'll hush now... ... ... . railroad is kinda my life, all I know.

I'm based at Englewood but cover alot of ground (SE Texas), I was with SP before the merger.
Nice chatting with ya, I've gotta get some sleep (gotta finish my truck tomorrow), my E-mail address is KSTRS@EV1.net send me a line.

I also feel your pain. My truck, a 3500 sport, red ETH DEE was built around 2-16 and has been sitting outside in a holding lot awaiting enough (like) vehicles to fill a semi before being trucked to Illinois to be put on the rail car.

To top it all off I returned home from the movies tonight to find out Hoke Hahn, the guy I was dealing with at Smith Stokes Dodge in Reidsville NC who was the Account Manager, died at his home today of a heart attack while burning trash out behind his shop. He was a hot rod guy and an all around nice guy. I put some 275 RV injectors in his 2500 about 5 months ago. I spent about 30 minutes on the phone with him friday morning talking about DC and when my truck might actually show up. He will be missed by alot of people.

I got tired of waiting, found a truck with same options as I ordered with a couple more I wanted after thinking, bought it yesterday. This after the dealer I was buying from said there wasn't a HO/6-speed in a 5 state area. Stupid salesman, I did a search of five dealers in a 35 mile radius of me and found 5.

CUMAPART, I have been waiting since 12/11, so I know what your going thru. There are so many stories as why those trucks are sitting in storage, its just rediculous.

I also had 10,000 more miles on the truck and dealer was getting squeamish about the original deal.

Good luck on your wait.

HOPEFULLY IT WILL SIT DOWN THERE 'TIL THE STORM PASSES CAUSE WITH MY LUCK THE CARRIER WOULD WRECK ON ITS WAY HERE. #ad

Hey Cumapart!

Congratulations!! Sounds like you have the right attitude. I keep trying to remind myself that there's very likely a good reason why my truck is on hold. If there's something physically wrong with it, I'd really rather do the waiting until it's right. The last thing I want to do is get impatient with DC if something is wrong.

Now is the hardest part of the wait for you, kind of like pulling into the driveway when you've gotta pi**.

BTW, maybe us new guys should rally together and get us a good price on those Espar heaters, any interest?

Matt

Add me to the list of those who ordered some time ago and are still waiting for delivery. I ordered from Dave Smith Motors in Kelleg, ID on December 18. When calling the dealership, I get the story that the pickup is built and waiting for a load (I assume they mean carload) heading this way. Hard to believe that There are so few orders waiting for shipment from the Pacific Northwest, which is "Dodge Country".

Actually, from the information I gathered from all previous posts I have determined that my pickup assembly was completed on Feb. 5th. However I did order a 4. 2 lwb, cummins HO with a 6 speed. What do you want to bet that mine is one of those 150 or so waiting for the transmission upgrade?

If DC would just come clean and admit this to me I wouldn't mind so much. The more time that goes by, the more pi--ed I get as I do not react well to being treated like a mushroom. I guess my next step and one that I plan on taking monday is getting the Factory Rep name and phone number from the dealer and getting on his hinny. Know it will do no good, but will allow me to vent my spleen somewhat. Sorry to bend all your ears on this, but feels good to get this off my chest. Who knows, maybe DC will get wind of this post and rething their program of treating customers like mushrooms.

Hey Cumapart,

Whats the 800 number for checking the status of a shipment via CSX? Or is there a way of checking status online? My salesman called me a week ago letting me know my new 01 was shipped but I cant seem to find a way to check the status on CSX's web site.

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin,

Check out the following URL:

Dave Fritz' RamTech

Dave has done a great job of putting a lot of info together. You'll find the 800 support number, the path through the menus, and the meaning of the status codes on a single page.

Thank Dave,
Matt
